Hacking What Am I Doing Wrong?!?

I have a DS Lite with an old AceKard 2 that has worked flawlessly for 6 years. Recently, I bought a 3DS and an R4I-Gold to go with it. My 3DS is running FW Ver. 4.4.0-10U while my R4i-Gold is running Wood FW 1.60. My issue is that all my roms show up fine in the card menu but when I try running one I get a a loading message, followed by a white screen. It never moves past the white screen. I have a 16gb sdhc that I formatted using the tool found on this site and my r4i-gold is running. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? This is proving to be much more complicated than the NDS Lite version.

Could be a shitty MicroSD. Lots of import and Chinese shops sell fakes.
