No weaker than the DS line up, and that went on to become the best console of its generation. Also, the term 'shovelware' has become meaningless. Pro Evo? An old school Taito series like Bust a Move? Do you even know what the word means?
This, this, and this. It also seems that kids these days are forgetful of anything that happened before last year.

It's like people have extremely high standards, and that anything under a 9.0 out of 10.0 is worthless and "shovelware". Even those that do get such a high score can still be considered bad to an individual because it isn't their kind of game. Now, how many of those people are students and are getting A's (9.0+ out of 10.0) in their school work, and should they be considered worthless if they score less that an A?

Super Mario 64 DS alone held my interest for over 4 months.
A good first party game, remake or not, is all I ask for.
Steel Diver and Pilot Wings is "good" but also has its faults and also isn't for everyone. What's wrong with having "good" 3rd party titles? The only thing that kept me interested in the DS at launch was the Hunters demo and SM64 multiplayer.

I'm pretty sure street fighter or Samurai Warriors Chronicles or rayman will hold your interest.

Or even one of the racing games.

C'mon guys. It's purely a business strategy.
If you had OOT and Starfox as a launch game, would ANY other game be bought?
No. This way they secure themselves that we will buy a (crap) game in the mean time. Nintendo is a company, people. Of course they want to make money.

So what where the great launch titles for the PS2? The PS3? The Xbox? Xbox360?

The PS2 launch line was EPIC!

http://uk.ps2.ign.com/articles/080/080661p1.html

PS3's was decent/great

http://playstation.about.com/od/ps3/a/PS3LaunchTitles.htm

Xbox was awesome

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/2851354.html

And even the 360 had a decent launch

http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/666/666490p1.html

And to rub it in some more, Gamecube's was small yet incredibly strong:

Luigi’s Mansion
Super Smash Bros. Melee
StarFox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet
NBA Courtside 2002
Wave Race Blue Storm

Even the DS had a stronger launch line up. I wont talk about the GBA cos we all know how good that was.

The DS's best game at launch was Warioware for me, the PS2 was pretty pathetic and the Xbox had Halo and pretty much fuck all else for ages as far as I was concerned, although maybe other people have different tastes in games.

Well I got my Copy of Asphalt 3D today. (finally!) Still waiting for Samurai Warriors though...

I just chose Asphalt because it was for free at Amazon, BUT I must say that I love it so far. It's pretty fun and I'm glad I chose it, I wouldn't have known how good it is otherwise.

But it's true that the variety of games could have been better. I'm waiting for OOT too.

But until it's out I will have SWC and Asphalt to play.

With the exception of the Gamecube, which was an amazing launch line-up, I found all of those launch line-ups to be on par with 3DS. 3-5 good or great games and a bunch of 'meh' ones.

pro evolution soccer
street fighter
pilot wings.

They don't seem very weak to me. I prefer this launch over the nds one.

"No I'm saying that if games like Bust-a-Move Universe, Pro Evolution Soccer 3DS, Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D. are any sign of the future of the 3DS then it seems like the DS all over again."

Wtf pro evo and burst a move shovelware? you clearly don't know what the word means.

I'm not a fan of zelda, It must be shovelware.

I'm getting Nintendogs + Cats, Street Fighter IV and Pilotwings. C'mon, these three are pretty good. I've only played Nintendogs before but the other two will be new titles for me so I'm really pumped up!

I agree with weak launch title for 3DS. I think they pushed the release date for 3DS before so they can have a more better launch title. SSFIV is great but I already played in another machine. At first, I think DOAD gonna be launch title, but apparently it's not.

This is what Reggie Fils-Aime (Nintendo of America president) said about the 3DS launch titles (in an interview in Nintendo Power magazine):

QUOTE said:
I do believe that the 3DS launch library is one of the best we've ever had

...
Ha.
Ha. Ha.

They could have at least tried to include at least one universally fun game with online multiplayer (i.e. Mario Kart) since the only wifi I've been hearing about is SFIV and that's not exactly everyone's cup of tea..
