After reading this thread, I think Costello needs to offer lessons on reading comprehension. A number of people in this thread really are thick shits.
You know that won't work cause they won't read what he has to say. :tpi:
The only thing I do compulsively is turning on my PC and going on the internet everyday.

Playing video games all day without having a life and having social interaction is indeed damaging for the brain... A lot of neurochemical changes occur.. Lets seee.. sitting at home all day and playing video games releases dopamine and frequent release of this neurotransmitter induces synaptic changes in order for the brain to adapt to the big amount of dopamine. Obviously playing video games alone wont make these changes.. A lot of gamers watch po** which yea you guessed it releases TONS (SERIOUSLY almost the same level as drugs).... This combination, damn it will lead to soo many problems --> social anxiety and mental problems (a lot of studies are ongoing on this topic atm (seriously alot )).

The point is an excess of ANYTHING is bad for you whether it be tv, books, exercise, water, food, sex. What people need to do is stop looking at what people are doing and look at why the hell they are doing it in the first place.

Problem (that aggravates an issue like video games), is the ease of access to technology. Have you seen how many people use smartphones now? Literally all kind of human interaction is halved by half. That causes anxiety, because we as human beings can´t be isolated too much.

Now imagine people that have replaced interaction-related activities with video games. I know at least half a dozen of cases like that. That alone is an example for me to keep distance from video games for extended periods of time.

Now coding, yeah that's somehow related, so it shouldn´t be abused that much. Or do coding in groups.
