Warcraft 1 & 2 on DS(i) ?

Hello everyone,

Quick question for the programmers on the forum (be careful, I'm still going to tag lots of people once again^^), do you think that a port of Warcraft 1 and 2 would be possible on DS (with memory expansion pak enable maybe) and DSi?

I tried with DS2x86 and I'm not going to lie to you, Warcraft 2 crashes and despite the fact that Warcraft 1 is on the list of compatible games, it also crashes during configuration, it's impossible to save the configuration and even in creating a replacement configuration file via Dosbox on a PC to replace it with the original one, hence my question:

Would a port of Wargus (war1gus and wargus) be possible?

I also thought about Vanilla Conquer since C&C is supported by the DS and DSi and this game is still more recent, perhaps Warcraft 1&2 could work well via Wargus, no?

Yeah my friend, what happens :unsure: after all, you're right, it's vacation almost everywhere in the world so if they're having a good time and although they're enjoying it B-) , the developers of the NDS scene still deserve it, they've concocted something for us again great stuff this year.

Then maybe they don't respond because they think it's a request and then I can't blame them because it is indeed one :D , well it doesn't matter, answers or not the important thing is that everyone is well and having a good time wherever they are! :grog:

Well, that would be porting this stratagus engine for DS / DSi. The issue here is that there is no indication that this engine will fit in a DS/DSi memory / CPU constrains.

Vanilla-Conquer OTOH is the original Windows 95 port that went opensource when the Remaster collection was released. And this we had evidence that the original game ran on 486 and 8mb of ram back in the day, so It was a matter of getting rid of whatever crap It was introduced later in updates so it could run on a DSi and DS with expansion pak.

There is even a bug in vanilla-conquer introduced by EA that makes the game unbearable slow on DSi because they changed How the pathfinding Works and now It takes much longer when an unit decides If It can go in a certain way or not. This affects the Amiga port as well and we never were able to fix this.

How would this engine behave when running on a Pentium-class machine? That would be a First step.
