Hacking (vWii) - Tri-Core Linux

It's a pretty simple change.
All the Wii code does to reset is set the first bit to 0 in a register at memory address 0x0d800194.
This doesn't quite do the trick on Wii U but there's another register at memory address 0x0d8005e0 that can also be used to reset the console.
You do the same thing to that register, set the lowest bit to 0, and it will reset the console on both Wii and Wii U

In the code, basically all you do is replace 0x0d800194 with 0x0d8005e0 and you're done

and no, it is no more exploitable than it is to just hit the power button to turn on the console when you first plug it in.

Is the adapter a usb device or does it go in a normal sd card slot? If its the latter then it should work fine the way it is

After checking everything I have found some useful links for anyone who might need some help

Disk image creator (Windows 7) - http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/

For YAWMM you use it to install IOS 254

Disk image creator needs the .img file for windows you open the trinux .tar.gz file, then open the contained the .tar file, then you extract the .img file to use (I recommend 7-zip for this)

Lets just say I made this if anyone gets as somehow lost as me trying to get trinux to boot you have some things to help you

Also how old does the keyboard and mouse have to be, I just used a mouse from 2004 and nothing (I need to get my old keyboard back )

As for the keyboard and mouse, its all trial and error really. Typically older usb peripherals seem to work better with Trinux..... When Ninja_Carver set up the generic usb drivers, he was only working with the 24mb of ram that the vWii has access too XD, so a lot of stuff remains broken in terms of that. We could certainly expand the compatibility now that 1.4b contains a swap file that activates automatically...

Hey all, random thought. There is a free geek "unconference" going on here in New England (where I'm from). Its completely free for anyone to just show up even if you want to present . This is a bit of a long shot, but when the work schedule comes out for next week (I'm a computer technician at Staples, so its retail, blah blah blah), IF and only IF I happen to be off on either Oct 11th or the 12th (its a two day event), that I could make a presence for Team Trinux to show off what we're all doing here and to give people a reason to actually buy a Wii U (kidding about that last part ).

But seriously, IF I'm available I'd really like to go to represent this project. The only problem is, its in Boston, MA and I live in southern NH. Worse is that I don't drive and also I'm broke lol. I would have to use public transportation to get there (cab to the train, then commuter rail to Boston). IF and only IF I'm able to go to this, I could launch a kickstarter to raise the funds for transportation.

Would anybody object to this idea?

Yes, it is not completed, and raising funds for anything is stupid. Look up the 3DS decapping fund for a good reference. I wanted to vomit when I read you hinting about asking for money.

Sure, there's a chance that you'll motivate an experienced dev to come along and tighten this project up, but there's also a chance that your presentation will be dismissed as nothing spectacular. That said, I got $50 for you if you want to go and give it a shot

I was harsh. Look up the 3DS decapping fundraiser. Ninja offered money and I respect he and Maxternal. Scriptkiddies comes across as nice and he keeps at this. I do think it is silly but I was not intending to attack or insult him.

That's why you said you wanted to vomit when he said that right? I'm well aware of 3DS scams but ScriptKiddies is not only an active user in the Wii U homebrew community(whatever it is) he's set up a sit for end users to test the exploit. That's worth something.

Because if you were a scammer, you'd ask for more money, and you'd have to plan this ahead. "Hmm, I'm going to manipulate a conversation on a forum into making it look like I had a spontaneous idea just so I can get about 60$ off the internet" doesn't sound like a good plan, unless you're in a hideo kojima game. There HAVE been hacking fundraising scams, but most of them ask for more money and have less rep, unless you're bubba or the wiikeyU team. Anyway, looking forward to seeing those photos if you're able to go.
