hello,

20 minutes? you got the patience to wait that long!
another user reported that Loading wii game was pretty fast, but gamecube took longer (which correspond to what you said), but it shouldn't take 20 min.
at worse, I'd say 1 minutes to load 600 gamecube games.
And I'm even surprised that it usually take only 20 seconds on your other Wii to load 1800 games.

so, let's see what's different :
Are you using the same SD and USB, or did you make a copy of some folders or files from one device to another?
if it's the same device and no files where moved/copied, it leaves the device out of the possible issue and we will focus on the console's softmod.
If it's a different SD maybe the setting is different, if it's a different USB maybe the covers/banners are not pre-generated yet.

are you using the correct USB Port ? USB Port0 is at the bottom, near the edge of the console.
Are you using cIOS or IOS58 ? look in the loader's credit page if it says cIOS249 d2x or IOS58+AHB.
could you post a syscheck from both consoles? just to compare the version of the IOS and cIOS. maybe the IOS version used as base for cIOS is making a difference. we will check that.

Yes i did have the patience to wait that long haha believe it or not. The same SD is being used and it is also the same USB. Port 0 is also being used. And in regards to the cIOS and IOS I will check once I am home. How exactly do you post a syscheck? Sorry, kinda new to this. Thanks for the response.

@Cyan I’m posting the syscheck soon, but just out of curiosity, how would this happen if they’re both set up exactly the same? Could it be the Wii type? I followed the same instructions on both.

Thank you for the two syscheck.

A = working console
B = 20min loading console

The main different is : the system on your console B is outdated.
Even your very old IOS9 is outdated on B console compared to the never updated for years IOS9 on A console.

A)...runs on IOS58 (rev 6432).
B)...runs on IOS58 (rev 6176).
your IOS58 on B is outdated.

You didn't answer all my question on my previous post.
it's very possible that you are using IOS58 to mount your USB, and the outdated IOS58 is using a bad USB driver. Nintendo released an updated version of the USB driver (v6432)

If you are using cIOS249 instead of IOS58 when you are inside the loader (you'll have to check your settings!):
I think when you install d2x cIOS from the network, it downloads the current latest version available on Nintendo's servers.
So, even if your "IOS56 and IOS57 are outdated, installing cIOS shouldn't rely on the version on your console.
I don't know when you did install cIOS on your B console, maybe you did it a long time ago, and therefore is also used an old version of IOS base.

If you installed using offline method, it depends which IOS wad you provided

and if you installed using a WAD manager, it's even worse because most guide never update their WADs ! they created cIOS wad file a very long time ago, and even if Nintendo released newer updated version of the base IOS, the (illegal to share) cIOS wad contained in guide packages or video tutorial are outdated !

The best method to install a cIOS is online method, to be sure it downloads the latest base from Nintendo's servers.

unfortunately, the syscheck is not reporting which base version has been used, so seeing the full system is outdated I can only imagine it didn't get an update for a very long time and might had cIOS installed long tome ago too. maybe I'm wrong and you installed cIOS recently? this month ?

Last thing I see on syscheck :
the B console is 1 year late ! still stuck in 2018
look at the last line.

Things you can try :
1. first, check which slot is used in USBLoaderGX. go to settings > credit, look at the top.
or go to settings > loader's settings > Loader's IOS : this setting specify which USB driver the loader is using while you are inside the loader! not the one used when playing.

report here before following next step. I want to learn from you to help more users later :)

2. whether you are using IOS58 or not, I recommend you update it to v6432
to do that, you'll have to download the latest version from NUS, ... if nintendo didn't close the system server. eShop has been closed this week! let's hope it kept the IOS update server online.
use modmii to generate IOS58, and install it using a WAD manager. (not any wad manager, some are bad. please, use this one)

Again, report here.

3. If you are using cIOS instead of IOS58 in loader's settings, and if IOS server is still online, re-install d2x base57 in slot249 using network method.
if IOS server is offline, you'll have to dump your updated IOS 57 from console A with BlueDumpMod and use that updated wad as base for offline d2x cIOS install method on consoleB.

let's stop here and see if there's any improvement.

4. in fact, if IOS server still work, I even recommend you use modmii to "resoftmod" your console, it will update ALL your system files. even the cIOS.

For whatever reason my DJ hero and DJ hero 2 backups stopped being recognised by usb loader.
All the other backups work fine.
When did it last worked? yesterday or half a year back without playing them until now?
What did you change since it last worked?
did you update cIOS? did you put USB on PC? did you copy games to another device ? did you install DLC ?
did you update USBLoaderGX version ? did you try reverting back to the revision you had ?
did you change any settings in the loader? (video mode, region, etc.) even settings not related to your game, like internal IOS used by the loader. (IOS58 ? cIOS, etc.)
which partition format are you using ? FAT32 or WBFS ? if WBFS which program to you use to manage games? please, don't use WBFS manager it corrupts games!
if it used to work and it stopped, something happened. it can't be not working for no reason.

@Cyan I actually did switch to IOS 58 because I saw a post in which you said to someone that it fixed some USB problems therefore I assumed that it would help. I most likely did not change it back, would I be required to do another syscheck if it was on IOS58 on the usb loser settings? And I will try what you said once I am home, just don’t exactly know how to download the latest version from NUS and apply it. Thanks for the response

you don't need to make a new syscheck, just go to the loader's credit or setting to check if you are on 58 or not.
if you are on 58, that's the only thing I can think that are different and can create your slow loading issue.
I really hope it's only the reason, because if not I will not have any other ideas.

to get latest IOS58 version, let's try modmii :
https://sourceforge.net/projects/modmii/files/
download/extract the last version. (not the installer, just the zip)
launch modmii.exe (or bat?) and follow the instructions "I Agree", type enter. then find the menu where you can download IOS.
choose IOS58, and let it download it. If nintendo didn't shutdown system servers, you'll get a wad file to install with the wad manager I linked above.

it's strange though, I thought IOS58 v6432 was the vWii version. but I'll trust the syscheck log you posted.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think Wii and vWii have the same version numbers.

I’m sure it is on IOS58 since I tried using IOS58 to explore other options and I honestly don’t remember changing it back to 249 which it previously was on. The reason as towards why I switched it is becuase even while it was on IOS249 for both game and Loader IOS settings. Nonetheless thank you for the responses, will try once I am home

I'm having an issue where USB Loader GX on my WiiU is now freezing at "loading from cIOS249" at the loading screen. I'm not sure what I've done, because it was working perfectly before that.
Not sure if its related or a coincidence, but Retroarch now refuses to load for me as well. As far as I can tell, everything else is working perfectly fine.
The last thing I did was install the forwarder for USB loader on the WiiU, which was working fine. I then uninstalled a Nintendont forwarder I was trying out (which still appears on my quick launch screen when I boot the WiiU, strangely), and removed some folders from the Rom folder.

Here is the syscheck results if it helps...

Its been a while since I fiddled with a wii, so of course I forget what little I did know. I am having issues. I have 2 wiis, and have never had any issues with using a WBFS formatted external HDD or Flash drive for Wii games, and gamecube titles on the SD drive. However, I am now changing around my "backup" wii and want to run both Wii and GC games from the external sata HDD and having nothing but trouble. I formatted to Fat32/32kb. I used Wii Backup manager to load the few Wii games to the external, and placed the GC games in the "Games" folder on the external. The Gamecube games will run IF I go through the homebrew channel and use Nintendont. However, within USBloaderGX I am unable to see the Gamecube games. Wii games are working, but nothing for the GC. IF I load GC games onto the SD card, they work. Is there a setting I am missing? I did this years ago and it worked, and now I can't seem to get it to work. If I was to take a guess I have 8+ hours of reformatting and reloading files. Any suggestions?

Maybe use some other loader that is only for GameCube games?

The games run fine when opened directly with Nintendont from the homebrew channel. They also open just fine from USBLoaderGX when put in the "games" folder on the SD card. If I hadn't done this 2-3 years ago and had it working, I would say that what I am trying to do is impossible but I am realistic that I am missing something or doing something wrong.

Hello,

@RandomNameAndNumber

Is USB LOADER GX up to date ??
Is your hack up to date?

To view the Wii and Gamecube games in usb loader gx, fourth icon at the top of the USB LOADER GX menu.

Try this, change the cios 249 by 58 in the USB LOADER GX settings, then restart your LOADER.

If you launch USB LOADER GX from the Wii menu, you must update your Forwader (channel).

Thanks! I did a quick rundown and re-installed and reset everything as you indicated and it didn't change anything.

I had to change a setting on "custom paths" for USBloader to display and run Gamecube games. It was really that simple. Everything is working, and I will be glad to have a wii in my mancave on my backup CRT again.

I also did what you mentioned in regards to the IOS58v6432 version and it is not the latest version, you were right and I am using the vWii one which is 6432, the newest one for the Wii is 6176. Why would it give me a different IOS version if I’m using the same SD card and same setup process?
the IOS is located on the console, not on the SD card.
using the same devices (SD and USB) has nothing to do with the internal system files located on the console itself.

What I find really strange is that your Console A contains IOS version used by vWii (IOS58 6432 is the vWii version), but your syscheck properly report that you are using a Wii (not a vWii). I never seen a Wii with vWii IOS version, without the "vWii" word.
usally, vWii IOS look like that on syscheck :
vIOS58 (rev 6432): USB 2.0
and if you installed vWii version on Wii, it wouldn't work.
so, your syscheck is not really making sense.
maybe syscheck does not really detect if the IOS is Wii or vWii, and just adds "v" in front of all slots if the console is detected as vWii ?
so, even if you install vWii IOS58 on Wii, it doesn't report it as vWii version?

But, another problem, you said you used the same SD/USB/loader Settings on both consoles, so on consoleA you are using IOS58 when inside the loader? and the vWii version work correctly on Wii ? really suspicious...

as for your game list loading speed, you said the loader setting is set to slot 58.
did you try to reset the setting back to slot 249? do you have HDD init/detection issue when using slot249?

Hello on my usb do I need the app too? I have the app on my sd card and wbfs on my usb
no, you don't need it on USB.
it's even recommended to never put homebrew (dol and their additional data/settings) on USB. only keep homebrew on SD, and the USB only for ROM/ISO/Movies.

Placing homebrew on USB can create issues if your USB is slow to detect/mount, the homebrew can crash/freeze/act strangely due to lost access to opened files.

The games run fine when opened directly with Nintendont from the homebrew channel. They also open just fine from USBLoaderGX when put in the "games" folder on the SD card.
It can be two things:
1)
Which version of the loader are you using?
Did you try to reset the settings? or if you prefer to check manually : loader's settings > gamecube origin : set it to USB/SD
don't choose only USB, not only SD.
you can choose either USB/SD or SD/USB, which determine the priority if you have duplicated games.

2)
if not fixed (or if that option was already good):
how many partition do you have on your USB ?
which USB Port are you using?
which IOS are you using for loader's IOS setting?

You might have to edit the gamecube path to point where you games are located. by default it's "usb1:/games" if you have only one partition.
but if you have more than one, it should be edited to point, for example, to "usb2:/games"

go to custom folder settings to edit the "Gamecube Main folder".

Edit:
ahh, I helped you too fast :P
I see you fixed your problem already.

An underrated opinion: While Bluesky as a platform is better than Twitter, Bluesky's userbase won't be better than Twitter as people are saying because everyone from the non-bootleg site are moving to the bootleg one expecting for themselves to change with their attitude, but that never works like that.
  • DragonMals @ DragonMals:
I will say though: Bluesky as a micro-blogging site? Needs a bit more oomph and I would officially like it better than Twiter. Can't even post gifs on that site, like what the fuck?
