I'm having trouble applying cheats to Wii games. I have Ocarina enabled in both the global and local settings, and both the txt and gct files are created, but the cheats don't apply to the games. I have reinstalled UsbLoaderGx and the cIOSs multiple times to no avail. If someone could help me out, it would be really appreciated. I have included a system check of my vWii if that helps.

Greywolf, I'm actually in holidays for 2 weeks.
I know it will go very fast, but I would like to see what I can do to catch up with your version.

At least, I want to add the new nintendont settings, which I will have to match with existing variable names, so users don't have issues when updating from the mod to the official version.

I won't promise anything more, as I know how I always did in the past and never released anything :(
But we can talk together to see what we can do.

I can make you a patch with just the new Nintendont settings and update to newest devkitPPC if you like.

ah yes, there's a new devkitppc update too. I would gladly take that patch.

First I'll check what I have as work in progress that I never submitted. it will prevent conflicts. I often start different things at the same time, and have issue releasing a new version because of uncompleted "first" work.
I start something complicated, then add easy patches and fixes, but never submit because the first work I started is still incomplete.

I make a separate branch for that then use a pull request to merge it back to the master as it's complete. :)

One of the advantages with Git is that it's easier to merge multiple people's code back together.

I never understood how to make multiple branch and work on all at the same time, as on local you can have only one version at a time.
I thought it would create multiple sub folders with copy of the code, but it's not. it's always using the main trunk, and you have to purge one to jump to a branch, losing the non submitted work.... that's either not useful or I didn't understood how git is working.

nobody explained it, and the github quick tutorial doesn't cover "work in progress" when changing branches.

I make the branch on Github then clone it to a separate folder. Then you can push it to the branch on the server and send a pull request to the master branch to merge it.

I finished the devkit update and Nintendont patches. I will try to create a patch and upload it today.

https://filetrip.net/dl?hejfz0I5H7

Included besides the patch file: compiled boot.dol, updated vorbis library files for portlibs, updated libcustomfat. The header files for libtremor and libcustomfat don't need to be changed.

Changes:
Updated to compile properly with latest devkitPPC/GCC.
Added two new Nintendont options.
Fix for caching banners from NAND dumps that are in subfolders. (e.g.: /nands/default/)
Fix to allow setting Nintendont video scale to 0, which is the default "auto" value. I also changed the initialization of it from 40 to 0.

My username on Sourceforge is "greywolfsc". I just don't use it much because it has too many ads. :)

you can use "git stash" to save the current working directory for later
and when you want your changes back, you can do "git stash pop"

Thank you for the work you did to make this patch.

with PPCr28 you need to cast all variable type ? I see you added a lot, but not everywhere. just to know if that's what I have to do from now, or if it's just a habit of yours.
You also commented a lot of addresses in patchcode.c, these are not needed?

You updated the libraries and provided the new .a, but what did you change? just to have proper sources in case someone want to recompile them. I guess not a lot of people will be recompiling portlib.
I'll probably make a new libogc+portlib package on sourceforge for PPC_r28 with your updated files.

Anyway, thanks for all your work so far.

Most of the changes required for r28 were for casting for string formats and some callback casts. I guess the restrictions for recasts were tightened a bit from GCC 4.x to 6.x.

libtremor-lowmem and libcustomfat only needed to be recompiled. Here's the newer source for libfat-1.1.0 and the makefile needed for libtremor. I just used the configure shell script to generate a new makefile for libtremor.

The patches commented out in patchcode.c were just to shut the compiler's warnings up as they weren't used.

When I load up USB Loader GX and try to run a GC Game it just goes to a black screen.

Could you maybe provide a bit more information than that? What loader revision? What game? What kind of drive? What partition type/formatting? Which GC loader? Did you verify the MD5 hash?

Wii is 4.3u
Nintendont runs my GC games without problem.
-Running Nintendont 4.446
-Using the latest UsbLoader Gx revision from sourceforge (USB Loader Gx 3.0 r1262)
-Fat32 USB drive in back of Wii slot 0

Hoping someone can help me thanks :) @Cyan

Just wanted to say after a long time trying to figure everything out, I got USB Loader GX working for both Gamecube games and Wii Games (except call of duty still working on that)

For gamecube games I had to go through all of the custom paths and double check everything that it was correct.

Hey Im new to this as well, but the huge size of your storage might be the issue with the wii games? Not sure though

Any ideas? Also, if somebody could let me know if my IOS are a mess or not, that'd be great. It's quite likely that they are...

Welp... there are still some games that freeze the loader when clicked on in the menu... suggestions?

Wii, gamecube or channels, and which games?
some games require specific setup.

if it freeze while inside the loader, it's a loader or setup issue or a bad iso.
if it freeze in the game, it's a cIOS issue or bad iso, or bad video setting
can be anything in fact :P

We just need more information on your setup.

Thanks for your reply, Cyan.

Some Wii games are freezing the loader. It freezes while inside the loader. It freezes just before loading the banner after clicking the game title.

Known games freezing the loader:
  • Tenchu Shadow Assassins
  • Xenoblade Chronicles
  • Manhunt 2
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • Super Mario Galaxy 2
  • Super Mario All Stars
Actually... all of the Wii games are freezing the loader again. The ones that were working yesterday are no longer working now...
When I plug my HDD into my computer to test the WBFS files in Dolphin, they load just fine.

Just tested channels. Channels are also freezing when trying to load.

And now so are Gamecube games. How weird. They were working fine yesterday...

So I am still trying to get USB Loader Gx to work consistently. I had it working for a few days then suddenly its not working again. Hoping you guys can give me some help. It's back to the problem of not running games. It shows all my Wii and Gamecube games, but when trying to run one, it just black screens. Btw Gamecube games run fine in standalone Nintendont.

Here is my syscheck:
