Posted about this several months ago, but the issue doesn't seem to have resolved over the last few updates. I'm having an issue where the Categories function fails to, really, do anything at all. For example, if I add a channel to a Category named Hide, and then tell USBLGX to not display channels included in Hide, they remain on-screen anyway. It's not just my Wii either. I've hacked three in the past few months and all exhibit the same issue.

Running:
USBLGX r1251
d2x v10beta52 base52

Maybe you don't understand what I meant.
what I mean is :
Autoboot : whether you can you launch a game listed on USBLoaderGX with neek option, and had Neek autoboot that game. (it's not USBGX which boot the game, it's neek!)
System menu : whether you can launch neek without autoboot (and you will arrive at the neek emulated System menu)
Hidden menu : Whether the neek overlay menu appears when pressing 1 or 2 on wiimote when on Neek system menu
Installed channel displayed : whether you can see the manually/additionnaly/wad installed channel on the Neek system menu.

I never mentionned "inside USBLoaderGX", I was talking about neek compatibility, which means "after launching neek from the loader, what happens?".

So, like you said:
- the Titles were displayed inside USBLoaderGX.
- You can launch them (autoboot is working : yes)
- You can launch neek without selecting a game (without autoboot) (boot to neek system menu : yes)
- You can't see them on the neek system menu (installed channel are displayed : no)

So, for everyone, the best setup is : Wii + USB (sd untested) + Neek2o r96
if you really want to use vWii : vWii + USB + r96 b9.6, but you can only use it to autoboot games. You can't go to system menu and launch any other non-system channel from there. It's best to enable "return to: ON" on vWii to never go to system menu, as there's nothing you can do there (except set hacks like region free, video mode, Wii settings and data management, etc.)
But I had issue with the hidden overlay menu not displayed on vWii with this version. maybe I did something wrong.
Great! So for a guy like me (who mainly wants to launch VC/WW from USBLOADER GX and maybe TinTin sometime) vWii neek20 is working fine?
Can I start using it with my main HDD/games HDD?
Also I noticed you mention something about some settings for Castlevania and a couple other titles. Do I need to change anything (besides launching method: neek) for those games to work?
Thanks for everything Cyan.

Sorry that I dont understand a lot of this... I have all my games working except for the games which require mics. I have my HDD plugged into usb port 0 and my mic plugged into usb port 1. The game recognizes that a mic is plugged in but it does not pick up any sound. I know I need an IOS but which one specifically do I need to install?

It's just the way categories combine. To hide a category, make a new category, add the games to it you want hidden, then in the category selection make sure "All" and your hidden category are both set to "X" and not checked or "+". That tells it to display all except that category. If that IS how you set it up then maybe there's something wrong.

I think games that use microphone used IOS56 so you would want something based on it. ModMii has options to patch IOS56 as 249 or 250.

should games like def jam rapstar and green day rock band be able to use a mic that is plugged into usb port 1?

you need to stop using "all" if you don't want to see "all" games.
if you want to filter on a whitelist basis, then you remove "all" and enable categories one by one. the cross for categories are still useful if you have "all" unchecked, it's used to prevent specific categories to be part of the whitelist in case a single game has multiple categories.
if you want to filter on a blacklist basis, then you set "all" to the Cross box (not the check box), and it will allow everything except the one with a cross.

try your slot 250 (you probably have d2x base57 in that slot).
if it doesn't work, install d2x with base 58 in slot 251 and use that one in the game settings.
Be sure that all accessories are connected before launching the loader.

Or, you can also try to install d2x v10-alt which supports port1 and plug-and-play for accessories.

vWii sneek beta9.6 is working fine with channel autoboot, or disc launching (no autoboot).
you can use it with your hdd, but backup is always a good idea. even without neek2o! if you care about your data, make backups.

Humm, I don't remember saying anything about settings specific for games.
the only settings which are affected by neek2o are :
emuNAND mode (off/partial/full/neek), emuNAND path (global or individual ... I didn't test with individual but it should work), and Return to (ON/OFF)
if you want to exit neek2o when you exit a game, just set return to ON (no need to install any NK2O channel on vWii emuNAND)

To launch games like tintin, be sure you installed uneek+di (and the font !), then go to settings>features>boot neek system menu
once on the system menu, open the hidden menu "1", mount tintin and launch it from the Disc Channel.

I had issues with the hidden menu. I don't know why.

I think so. If you're not worried about emunand compatibility you might try the d2x-alt version. It's supposed to have better support for both USB ports, but that may only be in regards to hard drives.

Maybe try d2x IOS57 instead? I have 56/57/58 installed as 249/250/251 to cover pretty much all of the games that only work with a specific one. (i.e.: CoD only seems to work with 250[58])

call of duty requires a base 57 (or newer, so 58 should work too)
just select slot 250 in the individual game settings> IOS

the d2x v10-alt issue with emuNAND seems to be a full incompatibility, not a per-game issue.
if alternative version works, then it's fine. If it doesn't detect the emuNAND you can either install v10 or use neek2o now ;)

Mounting like in mounting from an image? A wbfs file? (remember I'm using a WiiU so even if I wanted I wouldn't be able to use burnt discs.

yes, mounting an ISO image (the wbfs file) as if it was inserted in the disc drive.
That's what sneek is doing if you install it with the "+di" option.
Cyan, one last thing. Do I still need to have the emunand folders on the root of the HDD or is it working now in sub-directories as well?
Las time I tried only having the folders scattered in the root seem to work.

You can place your emuNAND into subfolders if you want, mine is in hdd/nands/nand1. Don't forget to change the directory in Path settings if you move it.

r1252 with new Nintendont options:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/tkt67lbc3fbilvn/R1252.7z
note: it's in global settings only, not individual game settings. All games should have the black bar, so I think global is enough.
I tested only with mario sunshine : while in nintendont you see the setting works, but sunshine force a video refresh so you lose the settings.

I'm now working on nintendont update feature to add https support.

@Cyan, in the light of the most recent revision of Nintendont, could you please add the new settings soon so we can have individual game settings? I'm sorry if this seems pushy, I can wait. :)

then don't.

look the post above yours?
but it's not individual, like I said the video ratio/overscan affects all games. There's no need of individual settings in my opinion.
Oop, you 'd me before I finished my post. Thank you!
EDIT: Jeez, I keep overlooking stuff; I didn't notice it was global only.
I believe individual settings are necessary here. I don't force widescreen because I prefer these games in their intended aspect ratio. Some games look absolutely perfect without messing with the new settings, but also some benefit from being stretched out more with them. It's going to be a pain when I switch between these 2 types of games. I'm sorry if I upset you for asking.

beta 9.6 and vWii? neek2o always worked as intended on Wii.
Thanks for replying.

Didn't know there were new settings in nintendont...
Is there an ETA on the new installer and/or internal update revs?

edit:
@sonictopfan:
a question about game caching.
After the game list is loaded and you see your games, editing the source takes another long time to load?
for example, if you go to source menu (4th icon) and disable Gamecube (or any other sources), valid, open the menu again and then re-enable it, does it takes another long time to re-parse the games list or are they kept in memory?
I just want to know if this menu contains a "force a game list refresh" function of it it's using the list already in memory.

Don't get your hopes up.
I'm not working on it, I'm only thinking how it currently works. (it's faster to ask you than checking the sources :p)
Sorry, been away for a while, yes it takes a long time to load the games again, but as I mentioned it takes especially long because of loading the EmuNAND channels, the other games while they take longer now than before are still manageable and tolerable, it's EmuNAND channels that take really long to load and since I have everything enabled, every time I start USBGX I have to wait sometime for the games to load, it takes about 30+ seconds so it's not like I have to wait an hour :p

is there a simple wad i can download and install for the one that might work the best?

(will cIOS249[56]-v20.wad or cIOS250[57]-v21d2x6.wad work?)
