- exit the game to return to system menu, don't shutdown the wii when playing.
Is that generally a rule or suggestion when playing Wii? I usually do that, but not always.
No, I was answering d.d.d. to explain how to log the playtime to the System menu. You need to exit to system menu, if you use return to Loader/channel/forwarder then it will not log the playtime.
- ... don't shutdown the wii when playing.
My config is set up to Return to HBC, so of course what you said is true, but when you power down the console, it DOES save the time. At least for me anyway...
Anyway, I'm so used to automatic updates on Firefox Beta builds, therefore asking about beta updates on the loader (again).
I guess shutdown is not done by the game itself, but instead exit to system menu which shutdown the console. Therefore, the log can be saved too.
using an auto-update for beta would require more work (choosing which are ok and which are not), and users won't have the notice that we are leaving to explain what the changes and what they NEED to test and report in order to fix other things.
The less the testers, and the less official release.
I will soon release an official release, I'm adding two new things (GC Disc2 detection, GC Banner download) and if all is fine it will be a 3.1 release.
edit:
What I need to know currently (with the latest beta r1200):
Is the video mode working fine for both GameCube AND Wii games?
Tests in all regions combinations (PAL Wii PAL Games, NTSC Wii PAL Games, etc.)
For Wii : Using all Video mode (system default, disc default, force, etc.), are the video correctly set to what you chose?
for GC : Using DM, without ProgPatch, with video mode "DML Auto", do you have green/black screen?
For GC : Using DM, without ProgPatch, with video mode "use Game Setting" (Force), with game setting "Video mode: Disc default" : do you have any green/black screen?
For GC : Using Devolution with "Disc Default" : Dou you have wrong colors and/or game Lagging? IF you do then:
For GC : Using devolution with "Force 480p" (PAL or NTSC depending on the used game/console) : Do you have wrong colors and/or game lagging fixed?
Of course using wrong video mode will have wrong result. What I need to know is if it's fine when using all default settings that should be set for the specified game. (for example NTSC-U game on PAL wii need to be set to NTSC not PAL. If you set wrong settings do not report it as an error, it's a user error in this case
)
Only after I know that everything works fine for all mode, for everyone and all regions, I will release it officially.
Like you see, I need a lot of user's report, without them I can't know if it's fine or not and can't progress.
do you think that if I set automatic Beta download from the loader, users "with everything working fine" will report that it works fine? I think not.
