Yet another problem. After creating an .wbfs file from a game that I had to an wbfs partition I copied it to an ntfs hdd. usb loader sees the game but when launching it it gets black screen. The game plays fine from the wbfs partitioned hdd. Can anyone help. I used Simple WBFS File Manager 2.5. Latest usb loader gx dol and cIOS 38rev14

I am having exactly the same problem. I am using a wbfs formated hdd and an ntfs hdd. The ntfs hdd has .wbfs games extracted from the wbfs hdd, but all i get is a blank screen. They play just fine on the wbfs hdd.
I transfered them using WBFS Backup manager 0.3.1 (latest). Using latest usb loader gx dol
Do I need a specific IOS for ntfs games? Hermes?

You need to have Hermes cios 222 rev 4 installed, and set it to global in the USB GX settings. It's the only way games on either a FAT or NTFS partition can be started.

hi all.

i have just started having problems with this today.

i keep getting code dumps through both the hbc and the wii channel.

i am using the stable rev600 for the forwarder and rev843 within my apps/usbloader_gx folder.

it all started after i fired up nsmbwii for a quick level or 2.

after that, i turned off the wii and hdd and now i get a code dump everytime i start this up.

none of the other usb loaders are giving me any problems.

thanks in advance for any help.

Hi all,
HELP PLEASE !!!

I usually use ios249 to play all my games with no problems. Today I tried to fire up 'Band Hero' which resulted in a black screen. I switched to ios222 as i figured that's what was required. When i tried to reload USB Loader, I get a black screen, the light on the front of the Wii flashes briefly, then stays on for a second, then flashes briefly, then stays on again for a second. It keeps repeating this until I switch it off.

I have tried the following:
- reinstalling ios222 (rev 4)
- updating the loader to rev 874.
- deleting config files etc.

By deleting the config files i am able to get back into the loader, as it boots under ios 249. But the moment i change the global boot to ios 222, i get the black screen and wii light flashing again.

Any suggestions ???

Thanks in advance.....

'hi all,

USB Loader (latest rev.) is working good with a 1.5 NTFS formatted and WBFS foldered WD Elements, all made with WII Backup Manager. The only (BIG) shame is the disk access: really slow and with a applicant check every operation.

Anyone got this problem too?

Cheers

you can make sure to let the loader use the wiitdb.zip to name the games and make sure that is up to date with all your games. otherwise, the loader must open each file and seek it to get the name. this also happens to me with a bunch of custom games that are not in the zip file.

Or put the games in id_title subdirectories, then the title from subdirectory is used, not needing to open each file and not needing wiitdb.

I'm having trouble with wiitdb.zip.
I have to download the zip manually because my wii always hangs when I do it over wifi. So I hit 1 on the remote, get the url in the .txt file and put it in my browser. I then put in it my config folder.
It renames MOST of the games, but some are left out (notably Wii Sports Resort). Also my biggest problem, the parental controls don't work. I want to lock out some games from the little ones.

I think I may know one of my problems: game limit?
It seems that the URL generated does not have enough games listed. I have 431 games on my HD, and it looks like the url is way short of that(the URL has all Games listed).
Maybe this limit could be affecting the Parental controls function as well??

What is the best to play the games ?

WBFS Partition
FAT32 Partition
NTSC Partition
PAL is the best!

It's a NTFS filesystem, BTW slicer. Just remember this simple acronym:
Not The Finest System
If you can just remember that NTFS is a horrible filesystem, then you'll be fine.

WBFS is probably the best. But I haven't tried the others because there's really no reason to. WBFS was made FOR Wii "backups."

Hi, I used to have my hard drive in wbsf but format changed to FAT32, previously installed the games from the dvd without problems but no now, I am using revision 875, if this is a known problem with fat32, thank you very much and excuse my English.

Currently FAT32 is the best. You can use one hard drive for every wii application, no SD card required at all.
NTFS would be better, because then you can have files larger than 4gb (with FAT32 you have to split files into parts smaller than 4gb). However it's just as easy to split files onto fat32 as it is to use a WBFS manager.

Just because WBFS was made for the purpose of storing Wii games, doesn't mean it does the job better. Not every invention is good.

If you're happy with WBFS then good for you, but someone starting out would be better off going for FAT32.

I think something broke around revision 844 (the one where games in subdirectory support was added).

Hopefully the usb loader gx team solve it as I think really useful functionality. Thanks.

NTFS is even safer for backups than wbfs, as wiimm said, don't use WBFS for Wii backups.
Deleting and installing games on wbfs destroyed other games for me. On FAT and NTFS this doesn't happen.

Is that all? Or is it faster? For the most part, I only care about which one is faster than the others...

How do you like them? All I've had is troubles with their products. That, and my privacy concerns...
