anyone else find using the built in updater unbearably slow? downloading on PC takes seconds, downloading on wii takes ... maybe 20 minutes? and then fails.

It might take 20 seconds max when updating on my system...

tried updating in the loader several times, apart from being painfully slow it usually fails part way through. maybe because i'm in the UK? not sure where servers are.

cover downloading works fine (except for the missing covers like Link's Crossbow Training).

for now i'll stick to putting SD card in PC to update manually.. only thing is i'm missing out on this wiitdb stuff?

Just go to the wiitdb website or check out their thread here in the Backup Loader section of the forum. All you have to do is download the zip file and place it in your config folder (don't unzip it, just drag and drop).

When you see a cover is missing you can add them, but it seems to be there if it's this ID : http://wiitdb.com/Game/RZPE01
The best way to get the database on your Wii is by updating GX from the loader (full update), it will only download the info for the games you have installed which is much lighter.
EDIT: I upgraded the cover/3D cover for RZPE01

I have been away for awhile, holiday and so on.
Just upgraded to the 611 rev and found a lot of new settings.
I am very interested in all the settings related to the dol problems.
Can someone describes shortly what each individual settings is doing or where I can read the info myself.

Thaaaaaaaaaaaanx !

Most features are presented and explained in the readMii

@ slingshot27 - The last 5 or so pages explain the new altdol feature. What settings are you interested in? I don't know how long you've been out of the loop...

@ HipN - Do you have Ocarina enabled in the Global Settings or in the individual game settings? Also, what cIOS and what type of HDD?

I tried it both on global settings and independent and none of them worked. I always get a black screen.
The last cIOS I installed was Hermes and my HDD is booting with cIOS 249.

Two more questions...

What brand/size Harddrive are you using?
Are you booting the dol/config from SD or USB?

Betatesting findings (so please no hard feelings!)

Been testing R611 and all basic stuff looks well. Altdol from SD is working again, also in USB mode when started with forwarder ánd started from HBC: so great.
The new setting altdol from disc does not work for me. Not from the list nor the proposed option. Setting is still showing only the name, the extension is missing (ie game. instead of game.dol in the case of MoH2) so I presume the program is probably still not referencing the dol in the correct way?

In the gameinfo for wiitdb (2 button) I get dumps by all synopsis screens when scrolling down, when the gameinfo is not available in the gamelanguage that is set in gameoptions setting. This does NOT happen when scrolling down in the synopsis text that is in the gamelanguage that is set (ie: in gameoptions the language is set to dutch which is as a maatter of fact the same as the console default in my case: the database does not contain a synopsis in dutch so shows the default which is english.) Tested with a few games like Blastworks, Boogie Superstar and a few others I cannot quickly recall.

Hopefully this helps in squashing/finding possible bugs

thanks for the replies. maybe this is getting OT but i found the problem - i had a bad 0 byte png for RZPP01 and deleted that. then the loader grabbed it fine. thanks for motivation to check this!
@loader devs
maybe you can check for bad downloaded covers (0 byte files?) and overwrite them.

also
updating from 609 to 611 from inside the loader worked, yay! not sure if due to lower network congestion at a different time or something..

one gui quirk i just spotted:
the buttons at the top of the screen are in a different place for the list mode vs the coverall and carousel modes.
also this is minor but you can see the covers on the edges flicker when rotating carousel, looks slightly bad.
(PAL60 widescreen)

nearly done though seems to me

thanks

ive found some probs can be solved by just changing one thing in settings ect

i have also had a few bad .png files they were not there befor an update but there after hmmm strange

Tested r611 and altdol from disc is not yet working for me.

Tested with cIOS 222/223/249rev12 global boot and individual boot. Anti002fix ON/OFF. All possible combinations. Boot from SD works fine.

Also, still code dumps when pressing down while viewing XML game data. Has done this since adjustments were made in r600.

Still a good "beta". The Dol from Disc loading will be a great feature once the bugs are ironed out.

Thanks guys:)

very strange, I have both the r600 channel and forwarder versions installed but only the r600 channel works, the fowarder gives code dumps, both are on r611 revisions as well, anyone else have code dumps with the forwarder version running r611 revision?

Hmm, my games won't load with the latest version. The hdd and all games on it show up, but it's either green or black screens for them.
I've installed the Channel for it.

The older version on my sd card still loads all games.

Any ideas why the new one wouldn't work?

I've also noticed that all of the settings I change do not save when I reboot etc.

If anyone can help, that would be great, because this new version looks so much better.

what is the best cios for this Loader??

If you don't need USB device support (e.g., Rock Band instruments or Wii Speak) and you don't have one of the dreaded LU64/LU65 Wiis, then CIOS rev 9. Otherwise, CIOS 12 or Hermes CIOS 222/223.

So we have made it to 550 pages. And I see waninkoko has relesed the 4.1 update for the wii. It can be found here http://www.teknoconsolas.es/blogs/waninkoko Well I was just hoping someone could try this out and let us know how well it works. Please post any new info good or bad. I would test it myself but you need wifi to do the update and I don't have a wireless router where I am at. Thanks for any info.

PS: Can someone say if we well be seeing the banners soon. Thanks for all the hard work on this it is looking like a champ.
