Nikki's Travel Quiz
(Fan Translation)
In "Nikki's Travel Quiz", you will join Nikki, known from the 3DS app Swapnote, on a fantastic journey across Japan. You'll travel to each prefecture and answer over five thousand questions about local traditions, sights, food, curiosities, and more. Whenever you visit a new prefecture, there's a small cutscene that introduces you to the area.
But wait ... why am I telling you all this when Nikki can certainly do a much better job? Well, then ... Let's set the stage for Nikki.

Nice to meet you ☆ Come and travel with me across Japan and take part in a fun quiz. Along the way, we will collect all sorts of great souvenirs! When we arrive in a prefecture, I will dress up in a local costume. I'm soooo excited ☆ I would also like to introduce you to my friends Neko and Pandy!" | |
"Whoo-hoo, hello! I'm Neko the cat! I will explain the quiz! We will visit all 47 prefectures across Japan. In each one, Nikki will ask you 8 questions. Answer 3 correctly and you win a souvenir! This project began in February 2021, after @FailSandwich and @HinaNaru Cutie asked for a translation of this game in the 3DS Translation Request Topic. I immediately loved the art style and wanted to give this translation a try.
In May 2021, I approached @Colmines92 for help, and he quickly figured out the required modifications to the game's code. I kept going on my own. Graphics, fonts, dialogue, and testing were finished at the end of 2021, but the thousands of quiz questions sat there unfinished. I tried several times to find people interested in splitting the work, but nobody replied.
In 2026, I picked it up again and finished what had waited for so long. This time with AI as my translation partner. As with the already-finished parts of the translation, this part was also made with love, not a one-click dump. I built a workflow, wrote style guides and glossaries, and iterated and refined everything carefully to give you a playable, fun quiz game. I wanted the game to feel warm, clear, and fun, and most importantly, playable for a non-Japanese-speaking audience.
So yes, modern tools helped me finish it. But this patch is still made with love for the game. I hope it was worth the wait ☆
