What are the right settings for this game? I have the USA release. Thanks
Great you found the root causeI heard about this issue just last week. But you can work around it by either using a GameCube controller or by connecting a Wiimote after the explicit violence screen.
I'm going to try to fix this issue, just as I have with many of the other long-standing issues.
Have you tried launching them from an external hard drive, or swapping out the SD card?Hi I'm having issues with usb loader GX seemingly out of the blue (things were working fine before and I haven't changed anything). The games which I launch from my SD card freeze during loading (sometimes upon trying to launch the game, other times when in a loading screen in-game) and the console no longer outputs sound from my tv nor receives any input from my controllers. My only option when this happens is to hard power off the console. It's worth noting that games played from regular physical discs have not had any issues for me. Has something been corrupted possibly? Thank you
I'll send you a DM.Unfortunately, I still can't reset from GameCube games back to the USB Loader after this major update. I'm not sure what the cause of this is. I have tried the default settings when you first softmod your wii and such but no luck with different settings or not.
If you're using Windows then you can try to runHi I'm having issues with usb loader GX seemingly out of the blue (things were working fine before and I haven't changed anything). chkdsk /f X: (replacing X with the drive letter).
I have run the command and it says Windows could not find anything wrong with the SD card. Unfortunately the issue is still persisting. After trying a few more times I've noticed I was incorrectly describing the issue. The games do NOT freeze, they do however stop outputting audio completely and also the console will refuse to receive any input from the controllers including the home button. I previously thought it was freezing fully but that was due to the issue happening most often during load times and it was not leaving the black screenI'll send you a DM.

Corruption can occur if you remove your SD card while the loader is running, power off your Wii while data is being written to the SD card, or fail to eject the SD card before removing it from your PC.
Is there ever going to be a feature added that allows you to block access to the HB Channel from the home button while in USBGX? I've been trying to child-proof a modded Wii I plan on giving to family for days and have found absolutely no method of completely locking it down... Made an account just to ask.
I've already blocked every other pathway into the HB channel, hiding it in categories, blocking access to the quick menu, everything. There's just that one glaring loophole left.
Both of these should work perfectly from both an SD card or a USB drive, unless you've changed some global settings in the loader and one of them is causing the issue? But I'll send you a DM with something that you can try. These are the games that do not have audio:
- Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
- Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs
EDIT 2
I tried using CFG USB Loader to rule out that it was my problem and here instead the audio is heard perfectly![]()
Have you tried to redump/reinstall the games with Wii Backup Manager (for Windows) or TinyWiiBackupManager (for all platforms)?I have run the command and it says Windows could not find anything wrong with the SD card. If you've configured your Wii to use a proxy then most homebrew will ignore it. But I gave both USB Loader GX and WiiFlow the ability to use your systems proxy settings.Hello, please I can't find this info, what is system proxy settings on miscelaneous settings on USB loader?
Correct me if I’m wrong…
But install Priiloader (it’s an app you can add to “apps” folder on your SD card; install via homebrew channel)
Priiloader lets you hold the RESET button while you turn on the console to access a menu that activates before other boot functions
You can set it to Autoboot the Wii into USB Loader GX (it’s recommended to set it to boot into a forwarder that you have installed to your Wii System Menu, which in turn forwards the Wii into USBLGX — this is called UNEO Boot or something, can’t remember right now).
Then there will be a setting in USBLGX to make sure it always exits to the Priiloader autoboot; in other words, it always triggers the autoboot function of Priiloader.
To do this, I believe Parental Control settings must be on in USBLGX. Maybe there’s a setting within that to override Priiloader? And you would want that OFF — you don’t want to override that.
I could be wrong about all this, but I had the same goal as you several years ago and I’m pretty sure I successfully childproofed my Wii 100%
Let me know if this works for you and I’ll share an extra trick I use to make parental controls easy to turn on/off. It’s just kind of complex and I don’t want to bloat this message if my proposed solution doesn’t even work
Also parental controls might block the HBC in other ways. I just can’t remember right now. i just remember thinking i was able to pull off my goal, same as your goal, and being super impressed with these homebrews.
EDIT: I sounded like chatGPT with that clickbait tease lol. Anyway the trick I use is I edit wiitdb.xml on my computer (it’s in the USBLGX apps folder) and I make the title of the UNEO forwarder “ [Parental control password = wii]”; that includes two spaces before the bracket. That way it’s always on the top alphabetically. Then, of course, I set the parental control password to “wii”. I do this because parental control requires a password, and I use parental control to stop people from editing critical settings on the wii by accident (NOT because I’m trying to block naughty kids from causing trouble.) So the idea is, if any user of your wii ever needs to edit settings in USBLGX (for example if a game needs to use a different cIOS), then they can refer to that password and unlock the settings. Just make sure they are set to lock again whenever USBLGX starts again.
The reason this method is so cool is, the forwarder will just loop back into USBLGX, so it’s kind of a dummy program if anybody clicks it. That’s why I retitled it to say the password. I make the password “wii” because it’s simple and easy to type. And the last reason I do all of this is, one day I’ll be senile and maybe I’ll forget the password I set on my own wii — or my wii will be given away and used by somebody who isn’t me! This is a cool way to set up a wii that anybody can use without them having to be an expert at USBLGX, which is what you have to be as the person who originally mods the wii.
I actually already have Priiloader setup, with USBGX being the default boot-to and return-to location. That's not the problem- The problem is that once I'm on USBGX, all I have to do to get to the homebrew channel is press the home button on my wiimote, and then click on 'homebrew channel.' I thought I had hidden the homebrew channel in every other way, what, with it not showing up among the games and not being able to be accessed through the quick-access bar at the bottom. But like I said, there's just that one last method of access left. Forgive me if I misunderstood or glanced past something in your post that answered this.
Additionally, the only HBC-related settings in USBGX's parental controls seem to be 'Block HBC Menu' and 'Block HBC Title Launcher,' (the latter I assume to be that icon on the quick-access bar.) Neither of these prevent you from simply pressing the home button and then clicking on 'Homebrew Channel' and then going into the HBC.
Thank you very much! I'll be looking forward to your response. I've felt pretty confused so far...Okay cool. Let me check on this on my own wii and get back to you in a couple days. I am pretty sure my own doesn’t have this problem. I know USBLGX has a setting (not in parental controls) to control what the Home button menu displays — I think there’s a way to make it just have “Wii Menu” and “Shut Down” perhaps — no button for HBC. Clicking “Wii Menu” in our case (because of Priiloader) will return us to USBLGX itself. But again I’ll check myself soon.
Thank you very much! I'll be looking forward to your response. I've felt pretty confused so far...
For some reason, 'Default,' (which is the closest thing that showed up when compared to the option you described,) actually shows the homebrew channel option... Any other ideas?Got it!
It’s in GUI Settings, at the bottom half of those settings. Change the setting called “HOME Menu” to “System Default.”
Now the Home Menu only brings up two options: “Wii Menu” and “Reset.” Both of these will loop back to USBLGX.
