I ran into this problem just now as well 😭. I downloaded the stable version that was just uploaded today on the github. What I did was delete the usbloadergx folder in the app directory and replaced it with the new one from this github. Now when I load usbloadergx, I get an exception. Are there additional steps to doing the install?

Edit: Also tried updating it from the homebrew browser and it still crashes
It happens to me too, although it only happens when I enable/disable the option to display NAND channels (I also got this error in previous versions). Everything else works for me for now.

That'll be a different issue, since channels and games installed to the NAND aren't handled the same way as Wii games from the wbfs directory.

The issue is likely caused by something bad you've installed your NAND at some point in time. And the system menu might ignore it, but the loader won't.

If you can send me a screenshot of the crash then I might be able to find the location of the issue.

Everything is working very well here. I don't know if it's just me, but the 480p patch seems to be working much better now.

I didn't need to make any changes to the old settings. Everything just works great, and I haven't had to reconfigure anything so far.

And the old custom themes still work in this new version, although there is no quick switch option for wii-cube-emunand games. One question: does the update's native theme have a native dark version?

As we say in Brazil:

Obrigado blackb0x !!!!

Hmm, the only thing I can think of is some channel or forwarder I have installed on my NAND. I have the GX, Wiistation, and other N64 game forwarders to emulate them with not64/Wii64, so maybe this is the cause?
I'll test it and let you know.

There's 2 issues I've been having with the stable 4.0 release that I didn't have with the 4.0 test version or the last 3.0 release.
- Pressing the home button to reset back to the usb loader while in gamecube games freezes your console
- Some Wii games disappeared for me on it, the ones I saw disappearing were some LEGO games and Endless Ocean 2 (They're there again when I switch back to 3.0)

it's probably a good time to run disk checks if strange things are happening after doing the update into a fresh folder... its going to create configs, cache and download covers etc based on what it can read at the time.

If either of you are able to pin point the issue then I'll try to replicate it and release a hotfix.

If longer than normal paths don't seem to be the issue then what about empty folders or files with the wrong file extensions assigned?

I've got to get some more sleep, but I'll check for replies later.

I tried to pinpoint which game is causing the issue but I have 259 games to go through. All I found that it's pretty inconsistent. I had games starting with A and B work without crashing. Added all the games that start with C crashes it. Then took out the C games again, tested it, and re-added it and now A to C works without crashing. Added D games and it crashes. Removed the D games so that I'm back to A-C and it crashes again. Don't know what's going on!

Re #1
One change I've reverted btw is the ability to set the return to setting and have it work for Nintendont

Reason being is it was experimental and it doesn't actually work

I'm sure I had it working at some point in time, but I can't remember what the catch was. So I'll probably just keep that code private and maybe it'll return in a future release
Can you confirm if this was actually working for u in the test version?

Regarding #2, I suspect your missing games don't follow the proper naming convention, try using wii backup manager. Or before doing that, check if those games show up but fail to actually launch using r1281. If named improperly, wii games would show up in r1281 but fail to load, in r1282 they just won't show until they're renamed properly

Hello Community,
"I'm using an SD card with two partitions (FAT32 & NTFS), with my games stored on the NTFS partition. Since version 4.0 r1282 of USB Loader GX, NTFS is no longer recognized—only FAT32 shows up. In version 3.0 r1281, it still worked. Is it possible to set NTFS as the primary partition or enable it through an update?"

That's one of the things that I improved :)

One question: does the update's native theme have a native dark version?
Once things have settled and an issue or two has been resolved, yes. There wil be a dark version of the official theme.

Make sure you're using Nintendont 6.503.

The new update does more checks to ensure paths for Wii games are actually valid. So you should do what XFlak suggested.

I'll look into it. I just need to format another drive to NTFS and copy a bunch of games over to it.

As I've explained though, support for NTFS will be removed in the next big update.

I love the new version but whenever I need to exit a GameCube game via Nintendont and the whole console freezes and doesn't send me back to the homebrew channel

Make sure you're using Nintendont 6.503.
I'm already using the latest Nintendont version (6.503), I even redownloaded Nintendont through the usb loader , I had no issues in the test version returning to the usb loader menu from wii games or when pressing the home button while playing gamecube games

They launch fine using r1281, I think they don't show up on r1282 because of an added file path character limit in the new version which wasn't a thing in the test version

Could you tell me more about your setup? Like I assume you're using the loader as a vWii VC inject, otherwise the home button doesn't do anything. But is your drive formatted to FAT32 or NTFS?

For me Nintendont 6.503 works correctly in all cases and returns me back to the loader.

Have you tried resetting the loader to it's default settings?

That shouldn't be an issue. Like take the games you mentioned as examples...
Code:
/wbfs/Endless Ocean 2 Adventures of the Deep [R4EP01]/R4EP01.wbfs
/wbfs/LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean The Video Game [SCJP4Q]/SCJP4Q.wbfs
/wbfs/LEGO Indiana Jones 2 The Adventure Continues [RL4P64]/RL4P64.wbfs
They're all well within the limits.

By the way, if your file names ID doesn't match the folder ID then it'll also be rejected.

I'm using it on a wii not wiiu (with emunand + sneek), the home button worked just fine to return back to the loader in the test version and 3.0 r1281. My drive is FAT32

F:\WBFS\Endless Ocean 2 - Adventures of the Deep (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It) [R4EP01]\R4EP01.wbfs
F:\WBFS\LEGO Indiana Jones 2 - The Adventure Continues (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It,Da) (Rev 1) [RL4P64]\RL4P64.wbfs
F:\WBFS\LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean - The Video Game (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It,Nl,Sv,No,Da) (Rev 1) [SCJP4Q]\SCJP4Q.wbfs
I rename all my games like this for consistency which seems to hit the limit, I guess I'll have to shorten them. Could you tell me the exact path/character limit?

Would it be possible to have the option to download covers from individual games? Because I have like 70+ missing covers and the loader needs to check for all of them every time I add a new game.

My bad. I normally use a GC controller, but I just tried using a Wiimote with a classic controller attached and when I pressed the home button it taken me back to the loader

It's hard to debug issues like this, when it works for me with 2 different HDD enclosures and on both a Wii and vWii.

The total path length limit is 260 characters, but during a rewrite, I may have unintentionally enforced a 64 character limit on folder titles to ensure they always fit into disc headers — likely an oversight from late-night coding.

I'll have my NTFS drive setup soon, so I'll be testing various paths.

It's all good, I formatted my hdd to FAT32 and put all the games back with the backup manager and now everything works again. Problem solved! Thanks for all your hard work and maintaining everything!

I'm really impressed with this update. I love the new GUI!
There is a bug with Super Smash Bros. Brawl RSBE01. If video patch is set to ALL the game squishes (horizontally on the right side of the screen) whenever the game is loading between menus. This doesn't happen with Wiiflow Lite video patch set to ALL. This is tested on latest release Release v4.0-r1282
