Hi!

A couple of weeks ago i bought a second hand Wii in really good condirtion. Before i bought it, i was searching how to softmod this console because almost 10 years ago i had one and i remeber softmodding it via Twilight hack.

I was really really outdated, so the easy way was Youtube. I saw so many videos and finally decided to follow this

I installed the CIOS: V10 beta53, base 56, slot 249 and revision 65535. Also i installed V10 beta 52, base 57, slot 250, and revision 65535.

Then, i installed USB Loader GX Fowarder via WAD. I really like the option of being able to start this as a channel so i prefer it.

So, i believed that i was able to play backups then, but i have some issues. I managed to see my backups (i see the covers), but it doesnt work. Everytime i tried to start a game, the Wii goes black or sometimes goes to Wii menu. I found some helps in this kind of post. So i was testing many solutions (i install all this CIOS
, i forced video in USB LOADER, but the thing that finally worked was giving the 16GB Sandisk Cruzer Blade USB flash drive an WBFS format with Wii Backup Manager.

So, with the USB flash drive in WBFS format i went to USB LOADER and ran a couple of backups and they worked without any problems.

I Triet to give FAT32 format to the USB flash drive with Wii Backup Manager, but it stucks again in a black screen when i select any backup to load in USB Loader GX. (I tested with NTFS and got the same issue, but goes back to Wii Menu)

So, what can i do? I want to set up USB support fine just in case if i want to play some Gamecube games. I dont need to do it, because i have an Sofmodded Gamecube also, but i think FAT32 is easy to manage from any PC.

Also, this is my system check:

What do you think about it?

EDIT 1: I am able to play Gamecube Games in FAT32, i just run Super Smash Bros Melee, but the Wii games makes the wii go black screen and the wiimote turns off.

Hello

Given your syscheck report, you have installed your CIOS, like this ==> IOS249 [57] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v8final): Trout Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250 [57] (rev 21008, Info: d2x-v8final): Trout Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS251 [58] (rev 21008, Info: d2x-v8final): Trout Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

You should install them like this, using Modmii ==>https://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/

IOS249 [57] (rev 21008, Info: d2x-v8final): Trout Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250 [56] (rev 21008, Info: d2x-v8final): Trout Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS251 [58] (rev 21008, Info: d2x-v8final): Trout Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

For usb keys, this is not the top ==> often they give a black screen or do not work.

Prefer an external hard drive (fat 32 recommend) and use "wii backup manager" to manage your games and everything will be fine.

So...
Can I have received an external HDD and I will first try it in fat 32.

Another question, can I install those cIos without ModMii? With the d2xCios installer?

Thank you.

Absolutely, seems like you've found your problem. You indeed need d2xCios installed on your system.
Be sure to install it like this.
Base IOS = 56
Slot = 249
Rev = 35565

Hey mates.

This is unvelievable. I have not touched the Wii since past week, and I configured an USB flash like I said in WBFS with two games on, Wii Music and Mario Galaxy. Both worked fine and I was waiting for an 320 that I bought to come.

I algo installed the CIos like jeanotte post it.

Any help?

Today I received the hdd, so I format it in WBFS and I tried it. Nothing appeared, so I went back to the USB and guess what... Notting appeared. So now im really frustated with this thing. I cant manage to the Wii games to show up. I tried some formats, algo FAT32 and nothing... The good part is that the HDD is compatible, since I put a GameCube game in it and it runs without any problem at All.

So the problem now is whit the Wii games. Im using Wii Backup Mánager so I Doubt is a folder problem. Can it be a path problem in USB GX? Or missing any DOL or something?

Hello,

For cios d2x, you have that (if with version 8 final, it doesn't work, you can try version 10 beta 52) ==>http://www.mediafire.com/file/5ggh53tj9hhp1tr/d2x-cios-installer-3.1-v6-v7-v8-v10-wii.7z/file

you have to connect the wii to the net, to install these CIOS (if it is not done)

If you have installed the CIOS, which I recommended to you previously, can you post a new syscheck report ?? , please .

Format your external hard drive with Guiformat (recommend fat32) ==>http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

Then use "wii backup manager", to manage your games == <http://www.wiibackupmanager.co.uk/downloads.html

You can try with these two loaders, if you want (wiiflow lite and Configurable loader v70) == <https://wiidatabase.de/downloads/usb-und-disk-loader/configurable-usb-loader-mod/

https://github.com/Fledge68/WiiFlow_Lite/releases

Yes, yes, of course.

So do you think it might be USB GX LOADER issue? i really like the way that the fowarder works, i like accesing to the games library from wii menu avoiding Homebrew channel. I dont try WiiFlow and i dont know if they have a fowarder version, i hard to configure it?

You can try with these two loaders, if you want (wiiflow lite and Configurable loader v70)

USBLoader GX - Parameters - Global parameters - Parameters of the charger - IOS 58 of the charger -> 249 and result?

EDIT:

the Forwader chain from usb loader gx, you will find it here ==>https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/

That loader has become a disaster since it was updated.... stopped detecting my Wii games however those of GC recognize them perfectly... CFG is the solution :P

Okey im gonna do ir step by step:

1- First i'm gonna format the HDD in FAT32 vía guiformat:
1-Formateo HDD.JPG

2- I'm gonna put some Gamecube game in it manually. (HDD:/games/Super Mario Sunshine [GMSP01]/game.iso)
3- I'm gonna use WiiBackupManager_Win64.exe to put a couple of Wii Games in the HDD. I confirm to create a WBFS folder. So i select the 2 ISOS and i transfer to the HDD. Once this is done, i safely disconect the HDD from the PC and conect it to the Wii. These are the folders now:
2-Carpetas de ISOS.JPG

3- Gamecube.JPG
Inside there is only a game.iso.

4- WII.JPG

5- Juego wii.JPG

4 - Now, conected to the wii (Port #0, of course), i run USB LOADER GX, and all the same. I selected to show up Wii Games and also Gamecube. I change loader to 249 instead of 58. But i cant see Wii games.

So, what is CFG ( Configurable USB Loader'??) is hard to config and to set up? Does it have any WAD to install it as a channel?

Thanks!!

Hello.:)

Maybe the USBLoader GX is a "Challenge" since r1272.:)

Please keep in Mind the following Points and you maybe have no Issues with your Loader.

- try to use this cIOS Installation please

IOS249[57] (rev 21, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[56] (rev 21, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
Base 57 has the better Game Compatibility and 56 is as "Backup" in Case some Games are not working.
With this Setup you should be able to run a very High Percentage of the Wii Games.

- Use ONLY Port 0 for the USB Devices please:
728px-Wii-USB-port.jpg

- please avoid an 2 USB Device Setup. And do not use 2 USB Storage Devices at the same time please.
(Of course you can use Microphones and this Equipment)
There are Solutions for a 2 Devices Setup and it maybe works ... this is your Choice....

- Please Format the USB Device (highly recommended a HDD with Power Supply) with FAT32.

- Avoid USB Sticks/Thumb Drives/Flash Drives - If you want to use it -> the Older the better the Chance to work. And use the WBFS Format instead please.
- please be sure your HDD is initalized as MBR Drive and not as GPT.
- Maybe the "best" Chance to have a working HDD is to make only ONE Partition.Avoid the WBFS Format on HDDs please.

- Please use always the WiiBackup Manager for the Game Transfer.Avoid Copy/Paste please.

- Please also check your Wii Games of the correct Checksum(s).many Issues comes from bad or corrupt Games/ISOs.

- USBLoader GX has standard Settings for Loader´s IOS 58 - you can change it to 249 - sometimes it works better
(for the Game Install Option for Example).

- some Games needs maybe an seperate In Game Settings "Adjustement" - mainly PAL Wii´s for NTSC Games.
In most of the Cases it works if you change the Video Mode and/or the Game Language.

This should not be a Manual or strictly Instructions, please no.:D
Only a few "Tips" for a better Life with the USBLoader GX.

I wish you Fun and a great Time with your Wii´s and
Good Luck.
Thank you.:)

So i followed this steps and didnt found any sollution.

I maybe explained it wrong or mispelled. My problem is not run Wii Games now, them simply doesnt appear at all. I think that is some kind of a stupid issue that i couldt find out.

I installed those cIOS but when i start USB LOADE GX Again i only see that Mario Sunshine alone.

In other hand, i have add Condigurable USB Loader and it doesnt have any problem dettecting any of my games, wii included.

I'm about to throw the towel because i really don't know why something that worked a week ago suddenly doesnt work.

when it was 249 by default, everyone had issues fixed by using 58.
now that 1272 has 58 by default, everyone have issues and wish 249 back as default.
I guess there are both groups and people should just choose the one they prefer or need.
58 has lot of issues because of wrong setup habits for years, people always used wrong priiloader setup or wrong channels.

some usb sticks only works with WBFS format. Apparently due to the FATFS/NTFS library, even though they are all based on WBFS and raw sector access once the game is launched.
but like Alexander said, avoid USB Sticks, only use real External HDD.

GPT should work, but just to be sure avoid it until you are sure you setup works fine, and you are sure the partition format is not the problem. then, once everything works, you can do some tests with GPT with the same working drive (not another, or the test will be false), and see the result.

4 - Now, conected to the wii (Port #0, of course), i run USB LOADER GX, and all the same. I selected to show up Wii Games and also Gamecube. I change loader to 249 instead of 58. But i cant see Wii games.
be sure to check Jeannotte post above, and that "Wii" is enabled.
that's the first thing to check when no games are displayed.

The second thing is being sure whether it's a HDD issue or a settings issue !
It's useless and time wasting to try to fix something not broken. be sure to look at the right problem right away instead of trying every possible issues (remember, common mistakes from other users are not always the problem).

always Verify that the HDD is initialized in the Settings > HDD menu > First line should mention the partition format and its size.
if initialized, be sure you have the correct partition listed here. this is the partition which will be mounted to find your games.

if it'll say "not initialized", then try clicking on that line to force usb init.
it may not always work.
try another external HDD to be sure the problem is not the drive itself. always narrow the problem by trying a different element (hardware or settings, etc.)

If it's initialized, and the correct partition selected, and "wii" is checked in the source then there are other possibilities, mainly the settings:
verify you don't have Favorite enabled (the star on the top menu), if you enabled favorite but didn't set any "star" to your games, it'll not be displayed.
verify you don't have a category enabled/disabled (the desk icon in the top menu), be sure "All" is check marked (not a cross or empty).
it could be parental control with hidden games, but only if the loader is "locked" which I doubt it is.
it could be easier to reset the settings (settings>reset), or delete the usbloader_gx folder on your SD card and reinstall from fresh unzipped package.

That's all I can help for now.
I guess Alexander, jeannotte and other users covered things while I was away :P
thanks.

Thanks to everybody for the help.

So i tried to run the games from WiiFlow and CFG and Wiiflow runs wii without problem and CFG runs all.

I was about to surrender when i started again USB LOADER GX and choose an option, in case i f***ed somethin past week. So i press restore default setting on GX options menu and ....TADA! Suddendly 3 games in my library, the 2 games that i put on the HDD and the GameCube One.

If you want to know how i done it, i really don't know. I unchecked Wii games and then restore the setting, the next thin is that the games were there. I also installed Cios that alexander mentioned, but i dont saw the games until i restore default settings.

If i can do anything to help others o post any image to help understand this case, i will do it.

Again, many many thanks to all that took some time to write any advice to help me. You are such a friendly community.
