Hacking USB help with the WAD manager

I have the homebrew channel installed and am using the updated firmware. when i use an SD card i can install my WAD fine, but i dont actually own an SD card, i was borrowing it. i tried using a USB stick and every time i try and load it i get an error Ret -1. can anyone help? do i need to format it a certain way or something?

I think it has to be formatted in FAT(16).

You have to have an sd card in to use the usb port.

i got a new usb stick which i was gonna use with the wii, but i also keep getting the "error Ret -1" when wad manager tries to read from the USB, or errors in other apps with USB reading.

it's formatted in FAT(16) and everything should be organised fine, because my older usb stick with exactly the same data works perfect.

so... what is wrong with my new usb...

it just crashes on me when i chose load from usb.

Weird i made a wad folder on my USB and it installs games fine on mine. Slow, mind.
