Now, now boys...

Back on-topic, does the hack work on the Japanese version? I'd like to test it out.

Would it be possible to get a Patched Japanese Phantom Hourglass rom with d-pad and stylus and then use DSbuff, DSlazy etc and switch the language files (from the US version) around once we know what they are?

I played the demo and was dissapointed at the fact you may only move your character with the stylus. But I'm sure once I get used to it...

Thanks for this patch...too bad I can't apply it, as I'm buying the game.

Well, after you buy the game, you can dump it than apply the patch. But that kind of defeats the purpose of buying it I guess...

D-PAD hax for Zelda USA

Just took a quick look at that japanese patch and replicated it on the USA ROM .. it works pretty good but somehow it seems to break the R key for me .. (use item -> Im using lefthanded setting..) Maybe I will fix this some day , maybe not. *g*

how do we use the patch.if you could please write a quick guide that would be very helpful.thanks.....................sudeki300

Rename your ROM to zelda.nds and put it in the folder with the patch.exe. Open up Run, browse to the patch directory in command line, then type:

patch.exe zelda.nds

It should then say, "Done!"

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Works great, thanks! I could definitely see using this if I get tired of using the stylus. I don't mind it, but it's nice to have the choice.

Jajasilver, the broken R button is not completely necessary to play the game, right? The L & R buttons do the same thing? Although I would appreciate an updated version of this sometime down the road.

do you still have to use the stylus for attacking and other things or has that been changed.....................sudeki300

Yeah, the A,B,X,Y buttons don't let you attack. You still have to use the stylus with your right hand. Also, because the D-pad is used for movement, I'm not sure if you can get your map down to the bottom screen to write notes on it.

I haven't played extensively with the hack yet, but that's what I know so far.

i think all u do is use the stylus option to pull down the map.
haven't tried yet but will soon.

EDIT:
none of the buttons work except the d-pad.
NOT EVEN THE ABXY BUTTONS!
NO BUTTONS TO BRING UP THE MENUS!

Note; You don't have to use zelda.nds as filename.. that was just an example. You can use any filename basically as long as you supply it the same way on the commandline. (Heck, I think you can even drag the .NDS onto the EXE in windows in order to patch it, noob-safe

)

I'll have a closer look tonight and will try to work out the quirks .. and perhaps add extra functionality like slashing your sword with one of the unused A/B/X/Y buttons.. you can still bring up the map btw, by using the icons on the lower screen.

I did try dragging it to the patch first, but I wasn't sure if it did anything.

I appreciate the work on this! I probably won't be able to play this, well, until December. Damn school. I want to be able to focus on it.

Do the L/R buttons still work after applying the patch? If not I'll wait until it gets fixed.
