Well, that's fair enough, but what of programs like those installed via Steam (in this case, Source Filmmaker)?
Good to know, I guess my only concern now is the stability of my internet, I need a better connection (good WiFi instead of Ethernet over Power) if I'm to upgrade. So perhaps I can burn it to a DVD?
i guess you can download it from microsoft, but i think for get the free key it requires you to use the windows update option...
i downloaded via windows update, and let it install, when my computer restarted, all i noticed was the differnet layout and it was much faster at booting.. (my computer was about 30 seconds up to 1 minute to load, now its about 10 seconds) but everything seemed like it was before (like options and programs)
its 1 or 3 gb download (cant remember exactly)
if you are getting an error to download the update, you need to delete some files on the windows directory (leftovers from other updates i think..)
i seen on the faq that it would warn if incompatible programs would give problems, and about media center being gone, but no such warning appeared for me.. and so far everything works
on the control painel, you can even see some leftovers from the windows 7, like the old backup and restore options.. it even says in parenthesis "windows 7"
so i am kinda thinking windows 10 will grab lots of stuff from your old OS..
--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------
forgot to tell, i was really annoying about using windows update for install the new OS (or at least bring that shit reserving "app" that appeared next to clock, i preefered the old way of downloading an iso and use a flash drive or a disc to update\install.. but this way it made it super easy and friendly
but after solving the download issue (deleting download cache or whatever) i just had to wait some minutes to download, then install was pretty simple and nice, i think i had to wait about 30 minutes or 1 hour (i am bad at keeping track of time)
but the only setup it required was selecting an option so i could turn off all that privacy options (like sending details to microsoft)
i didnt liked the shitty messages like "hang on, sit and relax while we do this" or "hello" like computer was talking to me... it was a gliche, but the install was smooth and had to do anything..
after install, it booted and was ready to use
