I have had this on my to-do list for almost 4 years (having asked for similar info in 2018 according to search results) and I am finally getting round to doing it. Basically, I have a 3DS XL which I never updated to Luma etc, with a 32GB SD card in the 3DS SD slot storing all the ROMs and the gateway card being redundant except for triggering the profile exploit. I've got a blank 64GB card and I want to simply switch that for the 32GB one without messing about with the hack.

I tried just copying the data from the 32GB card to the 64GB one, but it didn't work, so I presume there's more to it but I wasn't able to find answers via google.

dunno how useful this info is to anyone, but I ended up cloning my 32G SD card to the 64G one using windows software, then extending the main partition to access the 32G of additional space.

sounds like a headache of extra work from a simple copy and paste. And a FAT32 32kbs format with something like guiformat.
