First off, I enjoy my GateWay very much, and I'm sure Pokemon and Zelda, etc. will be playable very soon.

However, I don't like the thought of not being able to go online with Pokemon, etc.

I'm on 4.5, with Gateway, and I can't decide. Should I wait for the bypass, despite not being able to play online? Maybe it's just an impulse-thought, as I've grown up with R/B/G/Y, and those hadn't any online support.

What would you do?

I'd stick to 4.5

If you really want to pirate and go online then get a 3DS for the Gateway and one for legitimate play.

Thank you for the input, Dinoh! I truly appreciate it :)
I'm leaning towards staying on 4.5!

I've made such a mistake with my PS3 and I regret it, you know?

And thanks Soul! :)

No prob ;]

Well, if you want to avoid regretting it again then I'd deffo stay on 4.5.
You can always update a 3DS, downgrading isn't possible without a NAND backup so you have no way of getting back.
And 5.0+ 3DSses are cheaper then 4.5 ones.
Seeing that more and more people are purchasing one from Ebay for piracy, 4.5 3DSses are getting rarer and rarer.
And ofcourse, scumbags will profit from it by buying bulk old 3DSses and selling them for ridiculous prices.
Like they did with the Wii U and every other launch console.

I have no idea if Pokemon X/Y will be playable on the Gateway.
Seeing that it's such a highly popular game, I think they will figure something out.

You know, popular piratable game playable on your hardware equals more sales and shit ;p

Anyway, good luck on getting a cheapo 3DS ;]

Oh it will be! Definitely! At least at some point + provided they keep working with their product to make the compatibility better. - They have kernel access :)

And thanks so much man :)

Definitely buy a second 3ds. That will be the best option. Its expensive but it is worth it. It won't be worth it to loose gateway support

I was just about to order Pokemon X but I don't want to update past 4.5... (on 4.4) Not because of the Gateway, but because of the fact I may miss my chance of ever getting homebrew :(

I'm gonna wait until Gateway releases 2.0 to see what it has and if it's good i'll get gateway, if not, i'll get pokemon

Are you being for real, cause that's hard to believe, DK is Nintendo and made in japan, Sea of thieves was from Microsoft, in America. I'm not calling you a liar, just didn't know.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ok yes they were both made by Rare, but DK was from Rare back then, Rare now is owned by MS. So makes since.
