Launch DOP-Mii.
Reload IOS236 or IOS249
Reinstall IOS38 v4123 WITHOUT ANY PATCHES.
Done.

Check if HBC uses that IOS. If not You can play all day long with IOS38.
If You touch other IOSes => full, mega brick.

so anyway, I'm just trying to research dop mii and what to look for so i can follow your instructions

what do you mean by reload? i saw the video and it doesn't show a "reload" section.

sorry to trouble you, but can you give a more in-depth step by step?

Just tested under DOP-Mii v13 (v12.1).
IOS selection is the first thing after pressing A on DOP-Mii "intro" screen.
Just use D-PAD to get IOS236 and press A.
Then "IOS, BC, MIOS" - press A.
Select title to IOS38.
Select version to v4123.
Then "+".
Say No to any patches.
Done.

the problem is how would I know if it worked or not? it does work now as it is

i guess the only way i would know it didn't work is if it bricked my Wii..... (sigh)

Syscheck (v2.0.1) will tell You.
Just make report from wii before and after DOP-Mii.
If You don't post "diff -u before afterdopmii" then smashdude will eat Your wii.

Are You absolutely sure that You "changed the setting to update ios 38 instead of ios 249"?
For me IOS38 wasn't touched at all.
Now You have upgraded IOS38. It doesn't mater at all and don't change Your wii experience.
But take note about it because might be helpful information if You decide to perform wii update using legit ways (game disc or nintendo updater).
