Can anyone point me to the proper place to locate this now? Links are dead.

Also is this compatible with an RGH3 Jasper model?

try this. I already had the files. remember to enable hddx access before transfer or they won't transfer correctly. I found this link on therealmodscene, which is about the best 360 site that's still around. I have an account there, but I didn't need to sign in for this link.
Good looking out bud! Ending up finding them, think after I posted this.

Any good homebrew games or emulators you'd recommend by chance?

not really. the 360 is one of the worst systems for homebrew, but you might look for the three or four games done by @Gunz4Hire . I've tested all of them he's posted on here. all have worked perfectly. I really like his pac man one, really good rendition of the classic pac man theme when you're at the title screen. I would recommend those. maybe xm360 if you want to unlock something on the system itself. mednafen, which is like retroarch, is pretty good on the system as well.

Sweeeet! I'll be checking these out tonight for sure! Appreciate the recs! Pretty happy to have finally done this. Been holding onto one for a while and studying the process before RGH3 dropped, then finally decided to take the plunge over the last few weeks.

Learned a lot so far. Also learned that if you get your hands on an xbox where the xclamps are missing the plastic piece in the middle it can short out when booting giving a 0031 code. Temporarily got around it using some kapton tape to seal it off a bit. Think i'm gonna pickup some silicon bumpers tonight and see if I can do a better job with those. Probably help heatsink contact as well I figure.

the xclamps have been removed from all systems I've owned, but never by me. I've never bought a 360 new. can't really remember, but I think I'm using nylon washers on the heatsinks for all the systems I've bought.

afaik, the problem with the xclamps is that the cpu and gpu sections of the mobo don't flex enough due to heat. that's that popping sound you hear with electronics, for anyone who doesn't know. the ps5 does it sometimes, but I've never heard the series x do it, but I think that's because it has more surface area. it's not as tall, but it's fatter, which makes up the difference. anyway, I assume all the systems I have had had heating issues at one point, but I still have my main jtag plugged in after 13 years, and it still works without a problem, including the pink hdd caddie I have with 1TB hdd. it's never failed, knock on wood.

Nice! Good to hear it's still going strong. Any recommended temps you try to keep yours at with dashlaunch or do you just leave it stock? Curious to know how your temps sit as well?

I've heard the xbone uses xclamps, but it's no where near as big a problem. don't know about the series s/x.

as for temps, the recommended is 60C or 140F. it will be somewhat loud if it's a phat, but I guess that's better than a dead system that requires a reflow or reball. I don't own a bga station to fix such problems, so I'd rather they not happen. ;)

btw, there's a dashlaunch setting that shows temps when you hold down the guide button, so you can see them in game. I forgot the name of it though. if you have it display F, if you're American or something, it will also be reflected in there.

I know this is old news but, I got the update when I attempted to play my copy of PGR2. Version 1 is compatible, but apparently there are two versions of it and my copy would never play until I got the aforementioned update.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
