Oh, also the lack of having to format specifically to FAT32 and requiring a class 6 card and slowdowns in MarioKart, Portrait of Ruin, and whatever other problem games there are for AK2. I've never had to put much thought into getting my EDGE to work. It just does.

To clarify, the problems the AK2 had with slower microSD cards have been resolved with the latest firmware release. I'm not sure what you mean by having to format to FAT32 (I use FAT16 with mine).

QUOTE(esoterica @ Aug 30 2008, 01:34 AM) Thanks everyone, lots of very helpful replies!! But I'm torn as ever between the Acekard 2 and EDGE!! I know it doesn't really matter in the end, I'm sure I'll be happy with either one. I had previously owned an R4 and thought it was great and perfect for what I needed it for and the GUI didn't bother me at all. Is the Acekard 2 GUI really so much better that makes it worth buying over the Edge? I'm starting to lean towards the Edge now... argh... I just don't know! Very indecisive! But I will make my decision soon since each day I stall is one less day I can play my DS. I looked at the videos of the GUI for both cards and I don't see anything wrong with Edge's GUI... reminds me a bit of the R4. The Acekard 2's GUI looks nice as well, but seems to have a lot of extra fancy options that doesn't really matter to me. So if it's not the GUI I'm concerned about, then would you say Edge is better??

Really, both are great carts and you'll be happy with either one.

If you really like the R4 interface, you'll prefer the Edge (it's a lot more R4-like). The Acekard's menu is beautiful, responsive, easy to use, and makes full use of the touch screen and stylus (of course you can still use the buttons to navigate the menu if you want). There is also a custom menu for the Acekard called AIO that is the same as the official menu but is constantly updated with new features. So for me (particularly because I don't really care for the R4 interface) the menu makes the Acekard worth buying over the Edge.

To answer your question, if you're not concerned about the GUI at all, get the Edge because it's sturdier (although the microSD card does stick out very slightly). Taking both the build quality and GUI out of the equation, it's probably a wash -- they both do what they're supposed to do, which is play games.

im not quite sure about that, i have a 1gb microsd a scandisk one, and the loading time between screens on megaman starforce is terrible

I have opted to go for the Edge card, mainly because I could care less how fancy the menu is and the general consensus is that Edge is a good, sturdy card with no apparent problems, whereas Acekard 2 has a better GUI, but flimsy card stock and several occurrences of defective cards.

Now... what is a good website to purchase it from? And which forum would I use for Edge stuff, since there doesn't seem to be one here? what is their official website?? What do I need?!

I have had all three. I gave the AK2 away. I will give the DSTT away soon (family).
AK2 & EDGE have good menus, I personally prefer EDGE.
DSTT and EDGE are well made. I will not own another card with shitty plastic clips!

I also own an Evo. It is my favorite, but definitely not worth twice the cost!
I will keep the EDGE and the Evo.

Yay i knew there people beside me who liek Edge

www.dealwoot.com is for you its Eastern so it will ship faster to you and its on GBATEMP official list where to get your flashcarts i think

Ok, I have made my purchase at Dealwoot already. The Edge came out to be a total of 33.99 with free shipping as a labor day special. Of course, for about $4 more you can have it bumped to priority, which is 2-3 days.

I have a few questions though. I paid using PayPal and on the bottom of the site, I noticed it said it takes 4 days to clear if using PayPal eCheck... PayPal is not the same as eCheck right? Thats something else right??

Also, I ordered some random screen protectors, cases, and earbuds from DX, is it really going to take 4 weeks to arrive?
