Ubisoft, recently criticized for their lackluster release of the title Watch_Dogs last May, recently issued an official apology for the botched release of Assassin's Creed: Unity. The CEO of Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto, Yannis Mallat, stated the following:
The game hosted a myriad of ridiculous bugs and glitches, including a major frame rate issue which suggested lackluster testing by the company. The Season Pass DLC for the game has been cancelled, and all current DLC will be given to all owners of the game for free. Season Pass purchasers will receive all current DLC for free along with a free Ubisoft game including:
    • Far Cry 4
    • The Crew
    • Watch Dogs
    • Assassin's Creed Black Flag
    • Rayman Legends
    • Just Dance 2015
This is just one of Ubisoft's many screw-ups this year, and many gamers faithful to the series feel cheated and are appalled at this absolutely lazy release. Part of this was due to Ubisoft's embargo on reviews; no early release copies were given to media, resulting in gamers not knowing what they were buying. Let's hope Ubisoft pulls it together soon to release what will likely be more half-baked sequels.

We'll see if they actually regret it when they release their next batch of sequels that will likely be half baked as well.

I doubt it. My guess is that they've overestimated their chances to release 2 AC titles within the same year (rogue and unity), and had to cut some corners to make the deadlines (because ubisoft apparently cannot delay a release date if it isn't on a wiiu, apparently  ). In any case, they sure go a long way to compensate for the release. I even think some people now regret not instantly having bought a DLC pass.

All the bullshit stemmed from rushing to make the November deadline, to make the most money. Rather than wait till the game was stable, Ubisoft figured might as well jump on the money gun and ride it out.

If it was just this release I would think that, and perhaps they will fix some issues, but after the absolute mess that was the watchdogs release I'm not so sure. The thing that bugs me the most is their PC optimization which they have no desire to fix it seems.

No apology for the crappy Watch Dogs Wii U version, eh? Long loading screens, mediocre framerate, missing DLC content, no Miiverse screenshots allowed and delayed six months for no good reason.

The game was going to tank one way or the other.

    14fps ftw!

But meh, who cares about Watch Dogs on Wii U anyway, the number one most awaited Wii U game is finally out and that's going to last for months because there's just so much to unlock and play online.

they haven't really been focused on good programming since revelations and that is probably because pcs at that time were a bit more powerful. They wish their people keep upgrading their hardware while they do not optimize their games.

the true fans will surely do so but this was a dangerous strategy that eventually leads to unsolvable bugs. I doubt they can improve anything major on the framerate for a game that mandates dx11 with win64 on a quad pc. I bet it demands more than crysis 3.

However I always thought they don't care and blame the players for not having powerful enough hardware or piracy etc but with this apology, i hope they start coming onto the right direction.
Although i don't bet on it because AC3 had some bad mouthing for which they reshuffled their AC team with Ashraf and had done some better optimizations. Now they have come back to the same point on focusing on graphics over gameplay and playability.

PC suffers from underpowered mainstream consoles. WiiU suffers for not being able to even live up to that.

It's kinda expected that the game would tank.

I got the email from them. But mine says they are still planning on releasing the china dlc. It and the first DLC were the only planned DLC to began with.

I kind of have to ask, was I the only one that encountered barely any glitches during his playthrough? The game only glitched three times for me, and only one of those times was problematic. I had one frame drop (in a place where it did not matter), I fell through the floor once (into a basement), and the problematic one was when I glitched into the scenery one time (although that might have partially been my fault). I know the glitchfest in this one is real, but I seem to be very lucky in that regard.

I only ever experienced glitches trying to play the co-op missions.

Ubisoft must have been shocked to learn that people get angry when you sell them a broken, dysfunctional mess no matter what the name on the box says.

    Who'da thunk?

Still pretty nice compensation for season pass buyers though. I thought it'd be some half-assed Ubisoft games from last year but you can get like Far Cry 4 for free, which isn't a bad deal.
