Hello everyone, I have read that Nintendo recommend its users to use an external HDD for best performance but I'll have to take that with a grain of salt since USB/SD Cards have come a long way so if I were to use a USB 3.0 (or even 2.0) would the Wii U loading speed be just as good or better? Also, attaching an SD Card to a USB adapter is that any different than a normal USB stick or does the speed even increase more because it's on a card?

I'm asking this above because my Wii U doesn't have sufficient space for all the Xenoblade X data packs (takes roughly about 10GBs in total) and I like to get it all if possible.

The second enquiry is if you'd say Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash would be perhaps worth to buy for 34€ (about $36)? Am iffy on this one because you see, I loved Mario 64/GBC and still do but the Wii U version is looking hard seller to consider its purchase. Perhaps the online mode will be all end all of Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash releases on November 20 and I haven't finished Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (story is getting somewhat tedious by the 7th chapter) so not in any rush to get it.

    Thanks.

all i can tell you is there is a small but noticeable reduction in loading times for smash bros digital vs smash bros disc.

wii u is USB 2.0 so you will never get full 3.0 speed from any drive.

I'd be cautious about Mario Tennis. The reviews are coming in, and it has a severe lack of content. It's pretty much a tech demo.

But would you recommend a USB stick or an SD Card with a USB adapter? I'd assume SD Card w/USB would load up faster.

It's really a shame because as said I highly enjoyed the 64 and GBC versions. Just going to skip the Wii U version.

flash memory (SD card/SSD) will be faster and silent, but of course has a finite amount of rewrites compared to mechanical HDD.

that said, im using a 16gb kingston japan USB thumb drive and have yet to see any problems or errors.

ultra smash does look lightweight and bare bones, but for pure tennis online it's probably great.
my long time friend is hardcore since mario tennis 64, and hours on gamecube tennis so im sure he will buy ultra smash anyway. i will wait for DLC or update announcements.
i doubt everyone would be complaining if it was a cheaper MSRP like luigi u. as it is $65 is too rich.

Thanks. I've checked out Ultra Smash gameplay and video reviews and they all tend to say the same, but the main game feels like it could be tons of fun so I might bite it. Plus, the online mode allows to choose the mode one wants to play so I can avoid Mega Mushroom (it comes in way too often and gets too repetitive in no time).

My hope is that Nintendo releases the rest of Ultra Smash's content digitally as they've did with Splatoon because that just can't be all of it.

I've went ahead and purchased a 64GB Samsung Micro SD card w/adapter to store Xenoblade X packs, that F-Zero game and whatever comes after.
