now I expect the CFW
I know what it means, it just sounds too good to be true since not long ago we were told not to update beyond 3.0.0.
This has been cleared in a recent statement that 3.x still has homebrew possibilities. But better to be sure.
As for CFW, if our scene will be similar to the one the PSP had, we would get a CFW variant of all significant OFW, so we could still play all games and keep our switches modified.
No one should be updating to anything,
I'm still going to be staying on fw 2.00 regardless of the 3.x Trustzone confirmation until it's absolutely necessary to update higher versions.
No one should have updated after the initial TX announcement and they still did it. It's gonna happen now as well and in the end most of them cry about it afterwards.
Now let's not get ahead of ourselves and pressure the guy. It'll be done when it's done. Remember what happened last time GBATemp peeps pressured a Dev.... Give em time.
They won't release anything before it gets patched anyway.
The last firmware release was december 4th 2017, so if we are to trust their 1-2 month gap between new firmwares, we might see a 4.2 or even 5.0 soon.
I wouldn't say "hopefully", but for the sake to push releases out sooner, it wouldn't be too bad if some vulnerabilities get patched with 4.2/5.0
If I read their wiki correctly one of the main entry points (memory controllers) was fixed on 4.x making it uncrackable (for now) so I'd expect CFW and the like to be out sometime this year.
Well, it's Nintendo we are talking about, the ones with a HackerOne program which hasn't stopped hacking, the company which released nothing but "Stability" updates on the 3DS for more than 10 updates in a row, yet the console is still hackable up to the last firmware, and also don't forget the Wii and Wii U, which despite updates, are still hackable on latest firmwares.
So yeah, not really fear-inducing lol
IDGAF about giving them a click, here's the link to the article you believe will make the consoles unhackable.
If you seriously believe that Nintendo isn't following the progression of these hacks already you're just plain stupid.

I am SO NOT buying Team X shares right now!
Devs don't come here as he have a pretty bad reputation (often on the RS server we talk about "GBATemp-like bs") but please don't pressure them.
That's also why you won't get an answer in there.
Exactly this. We are very lucky to have someone like ScriesM that not only does all the incredibly hard work and shares it, but also visits here and interacts with us too.
A lot of other console scenes could really do with him, but I hope he stays with us for a long time
Kernel doesn't allow CFW
Scires has mentioned in Discord that kernel alone could yield cfw, but would be like "stabbing yourself in the dick" without TZ.
Edit: Reading back what I just typed I realize this probably means little/no effort towards TZ-less cfw, so you're technically right.
I believe it was "biting your own dick off"
Not that patching it will make any difference on those above 3.x.x, really.
Get really good at yoga and copywrite the phrase bloga
Nintendo has been mitigating at every turn, often times very thoroughly. Notice how 4.x is already limited, 5.x is only going to get worse.
For the nth time: Nintendo's software has been rock solid almost at every turn, we've been exploiting nVidia's backdoors and memes... but Nintendo is fixing those too.
The Switch's code is regularly seeing internal audits and testing, they are on top of this and they're locking it down with increasing firmware.
