Choose a bootloader file, joycon or both... If just joycon strap connected, then either.

Then use Trinket / Rebug ;)

Just been playing in Hekate...

Changed default graphic to an OEM-style one built-in. Uses blz compression like the original.

Would it be a good idea to change the backup and restore folders to the same? Would mean that you wouldn`t need to copy your restore files over via PC. Backup and restore in the same boot, without removing SD card.

Good or bad idea?

Anything else I should add?

I`ve got about 10Kb left within the payload boundaries to do something.

Not enough space to implement modchip update from within Hekate unless I chop out a load of features.

Any ideas anyone?

Thank-you for all the positive feedback I have received for this thing we have created. Rather concerning that the "Too Complicated" votes are rising.

How can I improve it? Input gratefully received.

Cheers
Matty

Break it down more. Explain what A strap is. Explain what A trinket m0 is and what your using it for. Explain what all of this is from A standpoint of someone just randomly stumbling over the page for whatever reason. Like maybe adding one of those things that breakdown certain words that someone who has no idea what any of this means can start understanding what this is for. Idk just A thought as I didn't know what A strap is or what the purpose of it was. But thx for your work as I will for sure be using this in the near future.

Added a "straps 101" to the OP. Might help.

Anything else anybody?

Okay. My trinket m0 came in and I plan to do 4-wire and AutoRCM. I flashed using just the trinket/rebug Simple-UF2 and the trinket still comes up as TRINKETBOOT when I plug it back in. Is this correct? Only the Switchboot one (which I don't need for the 4-wire, I believe) would change the name of the drive?

As a secondary question, if I plan to only do the 4-wire, is there any harm to using Switchboot+Simple-UF2? Because if it doesn't hurt anything, you honestly might want to just simplify the instructions and tell everyone to just install both. I know you're working to make this as simple as possible.

If doing 4 wire, you don`t need SWITCHBOOT.

But just to future-proof your installation, fit at least the joycon strap. This will give you dual-boot in the future if ever you change your mind. All you would need to do in that case is flash a joycon only SWITCHBOOT and Simple-UF2.

Not a lot more work to fit a joycon strap.

Okay, I'll consider adding that strap.

But is there any reason not to flash Switchboot right now? I'm saying if there's no harm, I'll just do it anyway and you might want to just simplify the instructions to just tell everyone to use both Switchboot and Simple-UF2.

Yeah. Do it. All the SWITCHBOOT does is operate the straps. Can add it later. No rush to do it now.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Here we are... For NS-Atmosphere users. Will add to OP later.

This isn`t finished at all.
Not much of a changelog...

The boot graphic has been changed to something more "OEM" like. Set an autoboot option to see it. Obviously not using "payload.bin or "payload<numberedpayload>.bin

This will work with TegraRCMsmash or anything. Just modded...

More features will be added but I have been requested to put out something for NS-Atmosphere...

Just flash Simple-UF2_Hekate_mod.bin using NS-Atmosphere programmer.

Okay, cool. Thanks.

And I really would recommend that you update the first post to just tell everyone to do Switchboot + Simple-UF2. I know that you're trying to get out as much information as possible, but we're all dumber than you about this subject. More information may be bad. We don't need to know everything. It would simplify and greatly shorten the main post if you just don't bother to explain the reason and instead just say to use both.

I'm not a complete idiot and I still took a while to understand whether I would need Switchboot. If it doesn't hurt anything anyway...

The good news: flashing the chip was easy and it only cost me $12 to buy.

The bad news: I torched the crap out of the chip with a heat gun trying to get the USB port off of it. I ended up pulling the pads off entirely, so this project is bust for now. I actually think I could have soldered it in place had I been able to prepare the chip, but that isn't relevant now.

Here's a good example of what not to do.

I was afraid I would do that too. I ended up leaving it on, and stripping down a Male connector and soldering the wires from it.

You can still connect to the qfn pads... They are still intact. Difficult though

Updated my switch to 6.2.0 from 5.1.0 now I gotta get my dongle goin So I had Current.UF2 on it before and two other files so when I download the file for the m0 tinket dongle I use the
And rename that to Current.UF2 and that's it like before? Or just drop that file on the trinket and go not renaming it at all? The SD stuff is setup already.

K I got it working..Also works for my brothers switch with sxos on it. Works for both now without A different payload for both. So this was simple..But I have to say. It confused me as I just had the dongle and not the modchip. And all of this is combined together for people with the dongle and people who have it chipped. So that's kinda what confused me about all this. Before it was just rename this file and overwrite it. Now u have all the modchip stuff combined into it. When all I was looking for was the dongle stuff. Maybe have A small section breaking down just the dongle stuff. But I don't see anywhere or maybe it's just me saying u need to rename the dongle files CURRENT.UF2 the only reason I tried that is because that's what I remember from the old thread.

Also happy new year and thx for helping me have A good previous year with this dongle stuff. Really helps out and keep it up.

That is an excellent idea.

However there are other threads for dongles. Will work on that today at some point once the hangover subsides. 9:30am here ;)
