Orite a little biased but here goes

1.) Phoenix Wright Series - A game i thought would really be boring but turns out to be the best i have played so far for the NDS... excellent excitement and humor too
2.) Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - Just beautiful... really changed the outlook for final fantasy on handheld plus stunning graphics, good voice acting and excellent gameplay
3.) Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass - Nice game but only the dungeon part is annoying or else there is nothing that this game leaves out for the Touchscreen to do, after all it's nintendo who have done so
4.) Castlevania Portrait of Ruin - Very fun game... it's actually weird that when u wanna impress someone with a good game and good graphics, this doesn't come first but when they actually play it... they'll love it
5.) Final Fantasy 3 and Final Fantasy 12 and Ninja Gaiden - I couldn't decide but all these are excellent games (and are all 128mb in size lol)

What is mentioned above is for sure the best u can buy but if u are planning to buy 5 then note that castlevania portrait of ruin and dawn of sorrow are almost equally excellent and phoenix wright has 4 parts in teh series(ie. 1,2 and 3 plus apollo justice)

there are some more games that u could buy if u wanna buy more games
World Ends with u - nice game but the concept is not my type (good... but not my type... i like complete storyline than this)
Anno 1701 - Very nice strategy game... the best i have played so far
Metroid Prime Hunters - Best first person shooter with best graphics (also Dementium and Brothers in Arms is good too)
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground - Wonderful if u like Skater games (esp the previous tony hawk's)
Professor Layton - Can't beat the puzzles this game offers but it's a little short obviously though with 130 puzzles
Hotel Dusk - yup as previously mentioned, it's very nice according to my bro and sis though me not played it
Contra 4 - Good game if u are a fan and also have CHEATS since this is seriously annoying and difficult without cheats (comon 1 hit and die)
Need for Speed - Best i have played so far but surely others coming later this week or have been released are more liked by many... for me this is the best racing game

This is the best i could come up with... Check them all out and decide for yerself

hmm, most of the ones that everyone has mentioned really, Dont have any favs.. All i want is a good free roam driving game.. Any ideas..??

1. Tales of Innocence
Not only with great graphics, good sound, and excellent gameplay, it has MANY features, such as the passive skills (style skills) that raises extra stat and other bonuses, active skills which you learn as you level up (each character has their unique set of skills), great combo systems, tactics (the way how your character fights) and many more. It is only released in Japan and there was an article that it may not be released in any other languages (even though I believe it will sell GREATLY). If you've tried tales of the world: radiant mythology, you might want to try this.
2. The World Ends With You
Graphic-wise, it's not very fancy, while some areas, characters may look pixelated, but it has a very good gameplay. Before I sleep, I always play on my DS, and when my eyes start to get heavy, that means i'm not as entertained by the game. But this game kept me awake until I thought I needed to sleep

see other reviews. And this game was one of the only games that had a VERY high score in many review sites.
3. Metroid Prime Hunter
One of the "better" games for the DS, with even more features in WIFI mode, such as VOIP. Excellent graphics, may lag some times, but it is really interesting and fun.

If you had a flashcart, that would have been very good,...
Because my 4. and 5. requires emulation, (metal slug and metal slug X)

1. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
A lot of people seem to prefer the second one but to me DoS was better for a lot of reasons. It took longer to beat, the extras after the game were better, it was a lot more challenging, and I liked the soul collecting. It also had a great storyline and the bosses were really cool

2. Jump! Ultimate Stars
Easily the best multiplayer game for the DS, imo. Super Smash Bros. with more than just fighting. Building decks and trying out combos, evolving your komas, etc. Just as great all-around game

3. Rondo of Swords
I just completely love this game. Since I got it a few weeks ago I haven't been able to stop playing. SRPGs have always been my favorite games and this one, with the route maneuver system, errands such as shopping and quests to gain items and make your units stronger, a huge cast of characters, is the best I've ever played

4. Pokemon D/P
I don't care if anyone laughs but I have logged over 100 hours of gameplay on Pearl and I am still enjoying it. I have been trying desperately to get as many pokemon as I can without cheats, I'm at around 400 right now, and I don't think I'll stop playing until I collect them all.

I can't really decide on a 5th but honorable mentions are,

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Mario Kart DS
Tetris DS
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
Final Fantasy 3

Well, might as well add mine.. No particular order.

1. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow DS

I have to agree with the person above. First game I bought, excellent game. Great Bosses, Great Music, Great Gameplay.

2. Mario Kart DS

Just plain fun. Any person can enjoy this at any age.

3. Zelda: Phantom Hourglass DS

Enjoyed this alot more than Wind Waker on the GC. Great Gameplay, Great Music, Great Characters.

Can't think of the others yet..un-decided..

@kais - Super Mario 64 - Probably because the N64 version was alot better and where it made its' mark. I didn't like it, preferred the N64 version alot more.

1.Jump Ultimate Stars(Awesome replay value, fun and it has wifi!!!!)
2. Super Robot Taisen W( If it was in english.. it would easily beat any sprg out there; just amazing i love the cutscene battles too bad no wifi)
3. The World Ends With You/Its A Beautiful World ( Original rpg, compelling story, and nice sountrack)
4. New Super Mario Bros (Back to the original; Finally another 2d platformer, ITS SUPER MARIO BROS 4!!)
5. Worms Open Warfare 2(Seems exactly like the original pc games, great new game)
