Time for another update with the new highlights in my collection. Sadly there are no new games. I didn't game that much in the past months and if I played something, it was digital games (Snowrunner and Roadcraft) which I can't really show here. Also, I haven't seen any good deals for switch games. But there are still tons of game related things.
Let's start with 4k movies.
I got both transformers movies in a good bundle. Haven't watched transformers one yet.
I also preordered the mincraft movie. I didn't really like it in cinema, but it was a pretty cheap preorder (around 15 bucks), I'm sure that I will watch it again at one point, the scene where jack black and jason mamoa fly through the world is peak and it fits my physical minecraft collection. I got physical minecraft copies for all consoles where they exist, including an import of the new 3ds edition cartridge from the USA.
Fallout is another import. Sadly it wasn't released locally but I imported it from France. The steelbook seems to be the same version as the british one. It's a good show with a very strong/graphic humor. I can't compare it to the games because I haven't really played them (I dipped my toe into the 3DS port of Fallout 1 but I don't think that it's comparable to modern games from the series).
For normal blu rays, I only got some indian movies.
The first one is an italian release of Singham. It got released this year and it is the first release from the new label legends picture collection. Pretty fun movie that started my interest in indian movies after the "indian chuck norris" youtube video, so I'm happy to be able to add it into the collection (and also a very good version). The extras are blasphemy tho: one guy from the label said that you can skip the musical moments because they don't relate to the plot. How can he say something like that?
The next one I got is the german version of Bahubali the beginning. I already had it on disk, but a shortened version for international markets. This is the "indian long version" which is out of print and about 30 bucks used. I was able to get it for below 20 bucks in a in my opinion good condition. It's a very cool movie but some things don't hold up too well with western ideals... same with singham if I think about it xd. Bahubali has a very sexistic scene and singham glorifies vigilantism.
Kalki 2898 AD is a japanese import. It is made by the same label that released the RRR 4k disk I showed in an earlier post in this thread. Kalki is a good movie but in my opinion not as good as bahubali or RRR or Salaar. With the disk for Kalki I was finally able to watch the beginning of the movie after the friend that I watched it with in theater was late.
Sadly it's a cut version that lacks around 7 minutes compared to the streaming version. That also makes it complicated to sync the subtitles that you can find on the internet to this movie version. But it's very possible that this is the only physical version this movie will get in a long time.
Next, there are four 3D blu rays. All of them are part of the turbine collector series: the effort of a german label to release some movies on 3D blu ray while many people said that it's a dead format. It seems to work out for them because there are now around 20 movies they released in this series.
The highlight for me is puss in boots: the last wish. I think that this is the first time this movie got a home video 3D release and it's a really good movie. Sadly I missed it in theaters so I'm happy to get another chance to watch the 3D version. In the last post I had it as an UHD import because it got no local UHD, so now I have the 3D and the UHD variants. But it's totally worth it!
The next one is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. It uses a similar look to puss in boots and it's a good movie, but puss in boots is better. Still a good movie tho. Don't know what else to say about it.
The next one is the super mario bros movie, the one from last(?) year. I think that this one is also the first time it got released as home video version in 3D. The 3D ghosting really put me off in cinema and I'm looking forward to watch it again without the problem. Otherwise, it's a safe kid movie. A bit boring and nothing unexpected.
The last movie in this post is the 3D version of migration. I also liked this movie a lot. Haven't watched it in 3D yet.
Last but not least, there is some random stuff. First of all I got a 4 HDD bay for backups. I modified it with a better and more quiet fan and a fan control. The noise is fine now but I'm still not completely satisifed because it doesn't stop the HDDs in idle.
Next, there is the Ugoos AM6B+. It's a "typical" android 9 media player box which is not a very convincing reason to get it. But there is also a Coreelec (KODI) media player build for it which supports 3D MVC playback (the format used on 3D blu rays), HDR tone mapping and all Dolby Vision profiles. The profile used for UHD blu rays (Profile 7) usually is only supported by blu ray players and not by streaming boxes but some kind of key or so was leaked and thus this player (and a few others) was unlocked. The advantage of this player is that the 3D playback works properly in comparison to the other players which support DV Profile 7. So far I'm very happy with it for 3D playback but I prefer the HDR tone mapping of the XBOX One X. I don't have any device that supports DV/HDR yet.
Then there is a cheap logic analyzer. It fakes the ID by another logic analyzer so that it can be used with a better software. All in all nothing fancy, but good for the price (around 15 bucks).
Last but not least, I got the EZ Flash AIR GBA flasncart. So far I'm not really convinced by it.
