Wow amazing only 10% of people agree with you and well the way you worded that post of yours I can definitely see why. Yes it is down to personal taste, but it seems you're in the vast minority on taste and common sense to the value of a dollar. See you don't like hte Wii, that's obvious, and fine as it is your choice. The issue though is your excuses don't hold any water except for the obvious rip on the GC shovelware Zelda title. That game I will admit is grossly overrated, way too bloated, moves way slow even for a Zelda game, and has a very prohibitive save feature so you basically need 2+hours to play in a block or byebye to much of your progress...lame. Your best list itself is spurrious and quite humorous really, but I can see what you did there with the current selection of titles. You grabbed 2 GC ports, slam MP3 for bad control when most reviews and personal accounts online say it blows away the rigid style of the first pair. Paper Mario I'd argue in part over the GC as it started there, but was moved over only partly so into development and was done with that system in mind whereas Zelda and RE4Wii Ed were made entirely for the GC and in gamespeak got a 'level up.' But let's take the rest of this year for example of what the Wii WILL have before 12/31/07 given no slips. 1st party you got Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros being obvious ones...but if you look at the 3rd party offerings by checking the Gamestop/Ebgames.com list for Wii Coming Soon it's INSANE. The 3rd party support shames what Nintendo has in offerings across a massive myriad of genres, and the crap isn't shovelware or ports either...finally REAL titles. A great example that has been showcased is MOH Heroes 2 designed for Wii from the ground up, and some previewers are already saying visually there with Metroid, love the extra modes, and that the control actually bests Metroid Prime 3.
But off that what about your list of complaints...
- You're wrong, dead wrong. The controller for a console is highly revolutionary. Your Sixaxis is nothing more than a Wario Ware Twisted pivoting switch, that's it. The wii uses multiple accelerometers, motion detectors, distance tracking abilities and more. The Wii can see any direction that pad goes, knows what speed, where, it has all of X,Y and Z mapped very finely...sadly as of yet few games captured that...but they will. Sixaxis at its basic is about as advanced as the 100+year old 'labyrinth' wooden box game with the marble...tilt in two dimensions...no motion detect, no speed, nada...pivot only.
- Your graphics don't matter would trade all your games for anything on PS3 isn't even a complaint, that's a preference, and a stupidly worded one that makes you come off as a fanboy wich you're ripping people on this board for...foolish if you're trying to win a fight. Graphics are a preference, just as is gameplay. Many people want new gameplay, refined gameplay, think gameplay is what makes or breaks a game. Yet there are some who feel even passable button mashing or gameplay is great if the visuals blow you away...they exist, but check any industry poll they're in the minority.
- Wii online is more fleshed out so far than the PS3 one, they'll likely take it when HOME shows up, but until then you're making excuses. Out of the box the Wii gave you a (until july 1st this year) a free browser, free AP news thread, free Mii designer, free weather (wish it updated better) and the ability to take any online compatible game online. You can also use the Nintendo Friend Codes, but it is OPTIONAL as EA has chosen not to and is using their established lobby, the same lobby the 360 uses for its titles. Madden 08 is the first to use EA lobby on Wii. Your information is out of date, read up some. And why the beef with having notifications of system updates but having to do it yourself...is that a crime? Do you really want the system to power up completely, update, and then shut itself back down? I suppose that's nce, but if that's a deal breaker for you I question your mental faculties.
- Wii is pricey! HAHAHAHAHAHA! You have to be fucking kidding me..yah I'm not going to sugar coat that. CDN or USD it's far from it. But since I don't do CDN I'll do the USD route for you. With my initial Wii purchase back in November last year I paid $250 for a unit with 5 games included and the features I listed in another bullet point, Zelda, and Excite Truck...that cost me $350USD+tax. Let's say I wanted to get a PS3...well that there would have been $600 and then 2 more games would have been $60 a pop taking it up to $720+tax. YES there is a blu-ray player, that's a given, and it can factor in as those run like $400 these days...but unless that alone is the strongest reason you're getting a PS3 before even the format wars between it and HDVD are a lock which is fairly stupid. Say HDDVD wins, you end up with a movie player that won't play dick...the next betamax. So really a true PS3 purchase would have to be on the premise of software known then or to come sometime on 07. Can you name honestly enough software before Christmas to validate a $600+ purchase? I mean the nice things like Little Big Planet, MGS4, GTA, DMC4, etc that 360 gets too aren't even until 08.
SO really...what the hell is the beef? Are you really just hating because you're one of those 'trendy gamers' or just sick of Nintendo people frothing over the Wii? FYI trendy gamer is a name a friend created on a popular game media site forum, basically means you like the game media find it trendy to find any fault with NIntendo and rape em as it's the cool thing to do as it has been over the last 10 years and no matter what is done right you won't give one damn inch. Because really, you're coming off as just that...a very very misinformed 'trendy gamer.'
