I'm not trying to flame anyone. I'm questioning the objectivity of this thread. R4 is a very viable choice for some people and it should be added to the common flashcarts sections of this thread, that's all. Sorry for the late reply, I was busy playing JWTB.

Part of the reason it doesn't have it's own section is that it's quite difficult if not impossible to find genuine R4s these days. Also, as stated about 5 times now, Wood R4 is more for people who already have an R4. There's too many base line faults for the R4 that Wood can't fix.

The bottom line is that the guide should inform people of all the possiblities. Some people don't need SDHC or DSi support and they'd be better off buying the R4.

I won't be a part of the flame war you're trying to start here, again. It's not my loss if people get misled by your guide. I'm just being helpful here.

I don't want to add fuel to the flame here but you seem to be hinting that people's best choice for a flashcart is an R4.

"It's not my loss if people get misled by your guide"? I've already noted that the R4 might be worth getting in the FAQ section.

If I must I'll note another reason the R4 doesn't have it's section. This topic has information so you can compare flashcarts that are most commonly bought, owned, and compared. There's almost no one on these forums asking if they should get an R4 or Acekard.

If it is widely asked for I'll add a R4 section, but so far you've been the only one to ask.

I just think you should add what R4 clones are the clones of xD, that way it isn't as hard finding out what might work on an R4 clone or not (provided people know what they are doing), but that by itself could be a whole new thread.

Well I got the clone list mainly from linfoxdomain, and they didn't really list it.

If I knew what they were actually clones of I would list it. I'll try finding a list of Wood R4 compatible clones.

As far as I'm aware the only clones WoodR4 works on are the 1:1 clones like the one ShopTemp sells.

Yah, I was planning on making a list for that (or atleast flagging the clones in my current list as compatible).

However it would be hard to find whether or not each and everyone one is 1:1 or not.

I bet these people would be happier to spend $3.30 on their flashcard rather than $15.68. It's a big difference.
Seems like an R4 is cool for folks with a phatDS and don't want too many bells/whistles. Where can one get a known wood compatible R4 for $3.30?

This place has it for $3.19 but who knows if it plays well with Wood: http://www.ndscardsale.com/product/R4-Micr...for-NDS-DS-Lite

I'm fairly certain it does.

EDIT: I updated the SupercardDSTwo section to reflect the information we now know because the cart is now released.

If people wanted a cheap cart that could do cool features they'd get the Acekard with AKAIO.
OR phat/lite users could get even cheaper cart with better compatibility aka R4 with Wood. 2GB is plenty of storage.

Thanks for the spirited discussion around if the R4 or AceKard is the best budget card. In the end, it seems that the more "future proof" Acekard 2i with DSi (if the old phat dies) and SDHC support for $12.97 at ndscardsale.com is an easy step up from the $3.19 R4 they have. I can see cased for each card (as well as other cards) depending on if one has old or new DS hardware, already has existing MicroSD or SDHC cards, as well as if the purchase should be from China or local country.

Thanks again for the great thread.

DeltaBurnt in the R4 clones section most of the clones only use the R4 name and most of them are dstt(i)clones

Yes I realize quite a few of them could be clones of the DSTT or clones or other R4 clones, but it's quite hard to tell which ones are and which ones aren't.

I have 2 dstt carts, and trying to keep up with the unofficial updates is too much like hard work. I have just ordered a SUPERCARD DSTWO cart, however I want another cart as well, this will enable me to run newly released roms.
Should I buy another DSTWO cart OR should I buy a ACEKARD 2i???
Is the acekard as good-what do you think?

The DSTwo is THE cart to get right now. I guess if you're really worried about ROM compatibility, you can get an Ak2i, but I wouldn't.
