I’ve known @Xzi for a while and, if memory serves, he’s black, though I may be wrong. I don’t think colour should play a part in this conversation - either an argument is logically sound or it’s not. We can’t say that racism is evil “unless it’s the kind of racism we like”, in which case it’s not evil anymore - that makes zero sense. If the solution to the problem makes zero sense, you’re not solving anything, you’re just creating a different problem, QED, admission disparities based on race despite the same academic performance. Quotas in general are boneheaded because they assume the same level of interest in given subjects despite stark differences in different groups. This is especially noticeable on the basis of sex due to the people vs. things dichotomy, which leads to demonstrably different life choices, including education and employment, which sends ripples across the income spectrum also, but that’s a different subject, let’s not add gendered major choice to this already convoluted discussion.White Saviors make my teeth itch.
