I’ve known @Xzi for a while and, if memory serves, he’s black, though I may be wrong. I don’t think colour should play a part in this conversation - either an argument is logically sound or it’s not. We can’t say that racism is evil “unless it’s the kind of racism we like”, in which case it’s not evil anymore - that makes zero sense. If the solution to the problem makes zero sense, you’re not solving anything, you’re just creating a different problem, QED, admission disparities based on race despite the same academic performance. Quotas in general are boneheaded because they assume the same level of interest in given subjects despite stark differences in different groups. This is especially noticeable on the basis of sex due to the people vs. things dichotomy, which leads to demonstrably different life choices, including education and employment, which sends ripples across the income spectrum also, but that’s a different subject, let’s not add gendered major choice to this already convoluted discussion.

No, you have referred to black people specifically on multiple, multiple occasions. Don't add lying to your list of fallacies. You have repeatedly talked about white slave-owners and how they owe black people reparations. How black people were disadvantaged historically and kept out of institutions of higher learning. Suggested that now Southern colleges will be allowed to only allow white Republicans in. Don't lose all of your integrity on one single forum thread. You only have so much left, at this point.

If you would like, I can bury you with your own quotes from this same topic, with ALL of your references specifically to black people. Do you want me to? I can. Or, you can admit that you are wrong, and maintain some dignity. Why lie when your words are all right here for all to see?

Financial status is affected by legacy and inherited or generational wealth, as you have stated. Do you want to argue with your own words? So, whose fault is it that one section of the population CANNOT ATTAIN generational wealth, considering their unwed birth rate, which you adamantly refuse to discuss?

That’s fair, so long as you’re consistent and weep for the plight of a poor black kid from the bad side of town and the plight of a poor white kid from the trailer park in Bumfucknowhere in equal measure. If this is a money problem then it can be fixed with money, but I don’t think that’s all there is to it.

I may be wrong, my guy - I’ve been on this site for over a decade, been a mod for quite a while as well, I have lots of interactions with lots of different people. I can’t be expected to remember all of it with perfect clarity.

It doesn’t always have to be about someone being right and someone being wrong, you know. Your opposition raises good points in the sense that black Americans are, statistically, poorer, and they do have worse academic opportunities *if* they happen to live in the bad side of town. The problem here is how you address that. My thinking is that we should probably make the bad side of town not so bad anymore. Not putting black dads in prison over minor infractions would be a good start - nothing has decimated the black household more than the war on drugs. Admittedly, that was an idea proposed by black community leaders themselves, but what can you do - you win some, you lose some. Step two would be to let them make some damned money, so that they can build the generational wealth they currently statistically lack. All of that can only be achieved if it happens alongside a cultural shift inside inner cities, and no amount of money can help with that, but a little more freedom can. Huge subject for a bigger topic. You’ll note that I haven’t included “blatant racism” in the list of suggestions, because it isn’t a solution.

This reminds me of an episode of King of the Hill where Connie has issues getting into a nice school because she's Asian. Affirmative action was a good thing when it was put in place, but now causes the very thing it was put in place to fight. Regarding legacy admissions and stuff, this is a problem more akin to ivy-league schools and other private colleges that have more issues than just dealing with affirmative action.

Let admissions be controlled by merit, and not based off of racial enrollment statistics. I guarantee you not a lot is going to change on the public space but to allow more impoverished people to have a chance to higher education. Enrollment should never be based off of race, and it's absolutely ridiculous to deny a hard-working individual from enrolling based off of race, and with AA in place, this is absolutely happening.

Jews outside of Hollywood (or the greater L.A. area for that matter) are actually fairly conservative, just look at Israel itself. I don’t think there’s any self-hate there, he just happens to have a very different idea on how things should work in the country compared to somebody like you. I’d be careful with resorting to psychoanalysis of strangers, particularly in regards to self-loathing, considering you’ve spent the entire thread advocating for an ostensibly racist policy that is detrimental to your own self-interest, statistically speaking. One might mistake that for self-loathing, or as they call it nowadays, “white guilt”.
