The (Un)Official layout for User Submitted News!

The standard of coverage is high here. We need a layout to stop newbs coming and posting news like this:

OMG!!!!1 Liek za new HL2 is like coming out!

First step: Decide a title!

• Should be relevant.
• Should have good spelling and grammar.
• Sub-title can be whatever you want.

Example:
"Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Release Date Confirmed"

Second step: Find a relevant picture! (This is optional.)

• Must be relevant.
• Can't find one? Make your own!
• Host it on the GBAtemp Picture Upload Service
• Medium size, please.

Third step: The article!

• Find a reliable source.
• Hyper-link any visible links.
• Must make sense.
• Must have good spelling and grammar.

Fourth step: Sources, links and downloads!

• Source, links and downloads can have the following pic in front of the link. (PIC:
  
  )
• Source must be labeled 'Source'
• Links must be labeled relevantly.
• Downloads MUST NOT be hot-linked. (Unless PDF, etc.)

Fifth step: Your comment! (Optional.)

• Not really any rules here.

Title: Google Homepage Now Allows Custom Backgrounds

We’ve heard that Google was testing custom homepage backgrounds, but the feature now appears to be live for all users. Yes, it’s probably not really all that useful, but it can at least make your day just a bit lovelier.

You can simply head over to the Google homepage and look for the little “change background image” link in the lower left hand corner. Click it and you’ll get this menu allowing you to select an image of your choice:

Good idea, but I think most news posts are neat and tidy anyway.

People need to use quotes when quoting news too. It's confusing to read because sometimes it's mixed up with their own words too.

Do people ever post news by going into the section first? I just do it via the front page bit in Latest Discussions where stickied threads won't show.

Would be nice to have something like this show up before it lets you post "news". Would annoy me but would be for the greater good perhaps.

I think the majority of news posters submit news properly and accurately, the main problem is posting news that has already been posted, no one checks to see if it's been posted before and just post it because it looks good, a recent example of this is KH Re:Coded, it's been posted about at least three times since I posted the original article. The content of the news is generally alright, only rules we really need is to make sure people

text from other websites and make sure they give credit to and link to the source page.
