As good size/shape 'normally closed' buttons seem difficult to get hold of...

Would it work to have a resistor from 2 (Card Detect) to 1 (GND), but have a 'normally open' button from 2 (Card Detect) to 11 (1.8v) to bring the line high? Wouldn't that do the same job?

Does anyone know of a button I can buy to solder onto the mig switch?
Like 5 messages above yours….they are all mostly on aliexpress tho. I ordered a ton to the US that should be here soonish hopefully

I’m sure there’s a faster seller but I couldn’t find them

Honestly im not sure how you’d fit a resister in this thing safely. The shell does not have any movement room to spare really. Thats why the shell is held together with a screw and has those hooks for the bottom half

There’s no room anywhere else except the outside edge

Another question, are those 8 holes at the top actually connected to anything? Can they be used to secure a button to?
Yes some go to the pins others go elsewhere

I measure em with a multimeter and there’s one to pin 1 and a bunch of ground which is all that matters

So I got a Mig Switch in-hand.

I don't ever connect my system online. Never. Not to update games, not to play online, it has never been on a network. Is there any good reason I cannot stick any game downloaded elsewhere and play it off this cart?
Im curious how this worked out for you. It should work to just download a scene-released .xci and put it in the root of the SD-card should work. This is as long as you dont care of ever going online or you are already banned. For the people with a newer non-jailbreakable Switch that doesnt care about online stuff and only wants to download games and play, it must be a good solution!

There are no scene released XCI with the required files to be usable on the MIG.

That being said as long as your game has all the required files it will work. But you’re going to get banned

I'm a bit surprised no one noticed that the V2 Migs have new firmware that allows you to switch games backwards. To switch backwards you need to long press and that would trigger the gamecard removal detection long before the Mig has a chance to register a long press. Conclusion is that the detection pin is likely handled by the ESP32 or FPGA and the button is an input to one of the 2. The button does not control the removal detection pin directly. That also means they are likely using a standard normally open tactile switch.

oh, so if i have a banned switch i can just download any "normal" scene-released xci (not .nsp) and play it without the need of XXX (Initial Data).bin” and “XXX (Certificate).bin?
