Anyone who checked out E3 knows Sony did not FORCE DRM for used games. I believe it is optional (correct me with source if I am wrong). Microsoft is stricly enforcing DRM and an abundance of reasons to hate their approach this cycle. However, after seeing this article I came to realize the truth. The real reason game devs are upset with the Wii U.

http://www.dashhacks.com/wii-u/wii-...the-ability-to-block-used-games-on-wii-u.html

Reggie was quoted as saying, to paraphrase, "That is not our business model." The rest is all BS for the devs. I've experienced BS with EA on many occasions. Free WSOP app, did a survey, their companies said I was owed 600,000+ chips, aarki, then burstly said I get the chips. About a month on, multiple emails, and they finally told me to contact EA as they told EA to credit my account. Get a response today, "While we understand your frustration we will not credit your account with the credits." They don't give a shit about anyone.

I don't trust these large gaming companies, and MS looks more like an NSA sponsored system. Nintendo sticks up for used game purchasers (some want to wait and pay a discounted price) and gets laughed at.
When you dig it up, yes, MS is part of that mess (NSA). Remember, MS enforces DRM, while Sony left it OPTIONAL for the dev companies. Last I read this was the case (correct me with source). This goes beyond "Power here" and I hope people recognize this. Some mentioned it but seriously, is this not one of the most pathetic reasons for companies like EA to "Show their ass" over?

Only read the first paragraph, but it's wrong.

Sony has not implemented any way to increase DRM. Microsoft has done so, but it's not a mandatory thing. Unless a developer wants to enable it, there is no additional DRM on the X1.

Yeah, your whole post is wrong. Sony and Nintendo are in the exact same positions they were on DRM.

Sources?

There may obviously be some business reasons/fights (other then the wiiU doesn't sells enough for devs to bother).. but I don't know well what is going on.
PS4 and XBO have zero sells by now (and are theoretically yet a mystery related to sells), but devs are supporting them fully. Nintendo certainly fucked up hard behind the curtains at something...

If Ubisoft gets out of the WiiU boat ...well ..you know what means when all the rats abandon ship

E3 at the 1 hour 57 minute mark: "For instance, Playstation 4 won't impose any new restrictions onto the use of ps4 games for it" *crowd cheering for around 20 seconds* "guess that's a good thing". Is this not enough?

Read more carefully:

It is just as said during the conference: "For instance, Playstation 4 won't impose any new restrictions onto the use of PS4 games for it"

Sony DO give the option. Nintendo do not.

Read your own source before you post it, it clearly states:
"The DRM decision is going to have to be answered by the third parties, it's not something we're going to control, or dictate, or mandate, or implement," he concluded.
Meaning that while first-party games won't have DRM restrictions, third-party publishers like EA, Activision and Ubisoft are free to come up with their own policies for PS4 games.

Which is nothing new, EA had the online pass until recently, which was a form of DRM, and it could have been implemented on the Wii as well (not sure if they did, wasn't watching the scene for the 2 years I didn't have my Wii, and was playing XBox 360 instead).

Yeah, that was my bad. I was under the impression that the PS3 didn't have any form of DRM. Thanks for the update. I'm going to post that on HacksDen.

Could you source my article?

That's actually me on DH

Im not addressing that issue.

Technically speaking region locking is a form of DRM. While Sony did not enforce region locking on PS3, one game did end up using it, Persona 4 Arena.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
