i know that pics of this thing have been on the net for months, but in the past couple of days an admin from chinavasion posted on the dingoonity forums to say that they'll be receiving stock "soon". other sources say that release date is mid to late september. a load of new pics surfaced too, including a black model which we've never seen before.

looks like gemei will be branding it (they had a hand in the manufacture of the dingoo a320 afaik) instead of dingoo. it won't be using another ingenic MIPS processor, but instead a Chinachip CC1800 ARM CPU which is a fair amount more powerful i think. unfortunately not powerful enough for ps1 or n64 without a GPU though, which the a330 will not have.

more info here and here.

i have to say it looks really nice, but without dingux and without any new emulators the only advantage of it really is it's proper wrap around shoulder buttons. i hope they decide against the stupid "game zone" and "mp5" slogans underneath the screen. i'll probably buy one despite having more emulator handhelds than i could possible ever hope to use.

Is it just me, or is this whole A330 thing becoming a total mindfuck?

I think everything Dingoo is a mindfuck

The HK, Non-HK.

It is so hard to follow

This thing looks pretty nice. Kinda glad that it's no longer shaped like a PSP, walking around with a fake PSP could be a detrimental to one's geek status.

But I agree that the Dingoo situation is entirely too hard to follow.

chinavision was a rebranding of the dingoo a320 from dingoo digital, before they split and the new company was named dingoo technologies. so this is not a dingoo anything but a new system. you have to understand that dingoo digital, chinavision, dingoo technologies, and gemei are all located in the same business park. the dingoo a320 and a330 were developed, manufactured, designed, and released from different companies all in the same building. this system is probably a shared design or a design which was purchased from a designer. just because it has "a330" on it doesn't make it a "dingoo." these distinctions are important and i only wish that more people understood the history of the device and the two companies so that rumors about what is "real" or "fake" could stop once and for all.

chinavasion didn't rebrand anything. chinavasion offices are in kowloon, nearly 100 miles from the futian district where dingoo digital are based. or they were at one point anyway, maybe they moved.

officially known as the dingoo digital a320, rebranded in both name and #. users who purchased this from chinavision now own an "Multi Platform Portable Gaming Entertainment Station," which is the exact same hardware as the dingoo a320. this system was purchased from the same factory who built and own the rights the hardware but not the design. my contact has told me that their contract allows them to sell the interior components to anyone who wants to buy it. chinavision and thinkgeek were two companies who purchased. thinkgeek kept the "dingoo" name and at the time i contacted them over a year ago they were selling their own exclusive a320 which was purchased direct from the factory and not from dingoo digital (later dingoo technologies). thinkgeek kept the name so that they could ship their system with legal updates direct from dingoo digital.

...Um...this may be the wrong place to ask but what can these devices actually do that makes it worth buying?
I'm guessing a Dingux+emu's and media :S

Dingux.....That is what again
Emulator...I've got a psp/ds
Media...Iphone/psp

I was just trying to see the point in getting one if I had a psp/dsi/iphone....cause before i had the psp/iphone I was considering it
