Well, let's not count the devkit as that would win, but realistically which retail model is the best for gamers out there? I'd guess a fat or slim model that you can install CFW.

As cool and portable as the Super Slim is, it can only handle HEN so certain features are not available.

Either the 60gb fat you can cfw it and it’s the best for ps2 backwards compatibility or the cech 21xx and 25xx ps3 slim it runs the coolest and is the most reliable of them all and you can put cfw on them but you can’t run very many ps2 games and they need config files

CECHA modded with cooler running RSX (costly) or any CFWable slim. Anyway running PS2 titles on any PS3 that is not herdware BC will kill the PS3 sooner or later due heat issues - unless the fan for PS2 titles is set to 80% or so...

That’s basically what I said but yeah setting it at 80 is gonna sound like a jet is taking off in your living room I would try not playing too many ps2 games on a slim unless you don’t have a ps2 or don’t mind the sound

IMO the best phat model if you dont care about PS2 compatibility (or you just have a PS2 for that) would be the CECHL01, as long as you repaste the system and have the fans set at a good enough speed anywhere between 30-50% (your noise tolerance may vary) then it'll last you a long while!

Pain in the rear end to swap the CMOS battery tho.

Probably any slim never had one YLOD on me. If you don't care about ps2 support. Especially if you can find a broken drive most internal you'd probably ha e to do is change the thermal paste and cmos if picky enough. CECH-25xxB

Irrc there are some pkg mods to bring loadable ps2 pkgs onto any model with hen could be wrong about that.

Also slim belts on BD do tend to collect dust build up over the years so you may want to clean the rails.

All models are pretty good, but imo, the Super Slim is very compact, portable, and durable despite looking cheap.

I used to hate the Super Slim as I thought it looked like a Chinese knockoff.

Yep, had that happen on a few I bought used and then discs aren't recognized.

I don't typically use discs that much, but it is a problem.

I've a PS3 Slim CECH-2511A with CFW, new paste every couple of years and still works great.
I'm looking for a Super Slim but is pretty difficult to find a decent unit here in Argentina. I'd like to try to install qCFW mod for it.

I bought a slim from a friend years ago and hacked it at 3.55 and I'm sure those are hard to come by today? But I don't think there are many advantages to having that old firmware.

I think you can downgrade it, but why bother, just use the latest on CFW/HEN.
