Don't take my word for it though, I barely remember the JAP version and all of those summons could very well be in there.

All of the famous summons are Rank III Espers in this game.
I myself enjoy swapping between Ifrit, Shiva, and Ultima depending on the situation.

You can only have 1 out at a time and they cost 20 to summon.

Mind you, if you don't keep up with your optional missions you'll miss out on some of them like Ultima.

Yeah, don't think you get summons the normal way, i.e. defeating the thing so you can use it. If you did then the first summon you'd get was Ifrit

On a side note, can anyone give me tips on how to get past the damn guards with Vaan? I keep getting killed as soon as I hit the first treasure chest.

Also what's the significance of all the stuff you get from foraging? :S

just cast speed-up and RUN from one chest to other. And avoid this paralyz enemies.

Actually there IS magick wich works just like classic summoning. But it looks more like ff7 limits... I only unlcked one of those. Vaan jumps sky-high and throw two HUGE fireballs. And it deel big fire dmg to all enemyes on screen. Like old-style bahamut summoning.

You can sub him in for someone else on your team.

I wouldnt put much effort into leveling him up though.

Ah...I totally forgot about that option. I was interchanging espers / yahri, but forgot I can switch out leaders. But I looked at his stats, and as a melee fighter he's quite a bit stronger than Va'an, even though currently he's two levels below him. I'd say he's worth some effort.

OMG i've played 13h soon and I am only 53% in the game doing all side quests. I'm at the part where you are in the illusion world and i've just made the group whole again. Some of the missions are damn hard. Especially ultima and the earth summon(haven't completed this one). You really have to think what treasures and enemies to kill so the whole bunch do not attack you.

I'm liking it so far, although the characters don't exactly fit up to par with the original FFXII.

Did anyone notice that Vaan is err... less introverted here, and more of the leader? In FFXII, Balthier was the real leading man for a long time, and I practically thought that Vaan was absent through most of the game. The game sort of lacks the filling for this sort of contrast, although the fact that Vaan gets an airship should excite him for the most part.

That's pretty much my only irk besides the whole issue of having a huge mass of espers/leaders and trying to pick a specific one; you have to drag down menus quite a bit. Otherwise, I love it.

I'm having problems running this on my R4. I've dloaded it, doe the Arm7 swap, boot it up and it's total silence and whenever i press a buttonthe game freezes. Is there some sort of new security thing? Just I've gotten it from 2 diferent places and had the same error with both...

You should make a separate topic for this. If you're using an R4, make sure that you're using the 1.11 kernel, not the latest one. If you're using the second latest kernel, you should NOT have to patch ANYTHING. All games work perfect except (I think) some random Ben 10 game and Worms: Open Warfare

It has less compatibility with games, and errors a lot for certain people. This isn't the thread to discuss it :\

So how many of you are enjoying it so far? Personally, I love it. The monster system isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It kinda reminds me of Lost Magic. The missions are pretty fun, the story line isn't bad either.

I'm only on Chapter 3, very beginning. However, it's because I've been training a lot.
