Gaming The eShop is pretty bad

If they did that, they didn't implement all the features that were disabled from the beginning yet. 3DS system transferring is one example.
Is it? I thought they did that already...

Tbh I'm waiting for Netflix.

It just came out.

And was delayed for three months.
So? It still new and still has plenty of updates to come, don't be so quick to judge it.

The fact that it was delayed should have been sufficient time to add way more content than this. It doesn't seem like it though even when Nintendo claims that they learned from their past mistakes with the Wii and DSi shop.
Actually they were delaying the update in whole, they weren't just working on one thing. They only delayed it so they could have one bundled update to put in the basics for future updates to come.

If they did that, they didn't implement all the features that were disabled from the beginning yet. 3DS system transferring is one example.
They couldn't delay it anymore now could they, they delayed it long enough to get the basics in.

Yeah, it's missing and says will be there in a later update. Only DSi system transferring is available.

Nintendo could be rolling out features slowly in order to encourage users to upgrade to the latest version of the firmware as they continually block flashcarts from working. In theory you can actually start running out of icons to use, so it's an interesting strategy if that's what they're thinking. Though with around 10 (rounding up) carts being updated each one burning a unique icon, you'd probably need a lot of updates to reach the limit.

I realise flashcart makers aren't going to collude but it would really make sense for all of them to use the SAME icon for each iteration. That way you don't burn an exploit icon unnecessarily. Though the way flashcarts are designed and manufactured might make this impossible.

That's stupid and just making excuses for Nintendo. Especially since all of these features that were added now should have been there from the very beginning are just showing Nintendo is still YEARS behind the competition.

I wouldn't say YEARS. The shop is an obvious step forward, and with a few improvements, it can rival PSN and XBL.

Wait, what are you comparing this to again?

Besides, new content WILL be added.

And I am reassured if they were added and were buggy as all hell like they would have been, you would have complained then too. Nintendo is taking their time this time around and making sure everything they add works and isn't that buggy. Nintendo has been around for over 25 years, I think they know what they are doing.

The only thing I dislike right now is that the screenshots are in 2D. Other then that I think it`s great with all the information and the 3D trailers for DoA and OoT. Also EB looks amazing in widescreen and 3D!!!

Am I the only one who remembers this little thing called E3 that is going on right now? I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo hit the stage and said "well we released the shop late last night, but that was only a taste. Now here is the real goods today"

In that case the 3DS wouldn't be out yet. If I truly wanted to make excuses for them, I would, but this isn't an excuse.

The menus don't even show me every game available which is very confusing.
For example: I cannot find Mahjong 3D when browsing through the different menus, it only shows up when im specifically searching 3D in the search script.

This is very odd considering there are things that could be missed out because they simply not show up normaly.

Wow, it's a store. you can buy shit, that's good enough.

EDIT: Tbh though, every time I enter it asks for my birthday. Pretty annoying haha.

And where do you find the trailers?

I'm comparing it to my knowledge of PSN (which admittedly isn't a lot), Steam as what all DD service should be compared to, and my expectations from Nintendo's claims of being serious with online gaming.

Yeah, they've been here around a long time but are still behind in terms of providing a good online service

their online is fine by me aslong as they develop new games similar to earthbound and 3rd party starts bringing FF's and Tales of ill be a happy camper
