After reading the Destructoid review at http://www.destructoid.com/destructoid-rev...re-128154.phtml, I'm just really excited to play this. I've never played a dungeon crawler like this, but I've been playing D&D with my friends for like 10 years now, and this game seems to have the same sort of thing going on.

Have you tried Etrian Odyssey 1 or 2? They're both excellent DS games, and practically the same as the Dark Spire.

I'm not much for RPG's these days, but I might give this a go because it reminds me of the old RPG's I played on the C64 years ago.

Hmm...Gamestop has it listed as shipping.....we should see a dump within the next day or two.

No, I've never even heard of them! I think I'll wait for Dark Spire first to bust my dungeon crawling cherry, and then I'll go play those too. Haha.

Just picked it up. The music in the game is pretty good and the soundtrack came as a bonus.

Dumped it to my slot 2 Supercard SD to test. Works fine.

RARed it's about 9MB and extracted it's about 27MB
I don't remember what it was trimmed.
edit: wonder what sending me a PM would do

Hmm...27megs extracted sounds like that is the trimmed version already. DS ROMs come in 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 meg sizes ONLY, when they haven't been trimmed.

I do love dungeon crawlers like Diablo, Dungeon Siege and more recently Orcs & Elves, but reading Dtoid's review seemed that this game is kinda so hard. Will try it.

Hope its more Hack n' slash like Orcs and Elves.

I just wish it had 6 playable characters as you traveled the dungeons. When I played all those old Gold Box D&D games on the C64 ~20 years ago, they had six character parties. Why can't these new-fangled systems handle that?

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
