Hacking The 1.63 update fried my card thread

Uhh... if mine says MX in giant white letters on half the chip is it safe to assume it has an MX chipset?

Here ya go to everyone who thought I was full of shit. Right on the supercard front page:

Update(2006.08.04):Emergency Message about update the Firmware V1.63

Updated:

Supercard miniSD with CB chips on the back will crash after update to 32%. We stop the SuperCard V1.63 SD & MiniSD version download, because of buy, please STOP to update the SD & MiniSD version. We will release a new version soon.

The only way this can happen is if some kind of destructive code was implemented into the update as all the other updates were nice and friendly. Obviously they want to destroy the fake cards.

Problem SOLVED!

Firmware 1.63b was just posted and it works on both MX and CB cards.

If you already bricked your card I hope this will fix it...

That was posted on RomMan's website and a fix was released soon afterwards!

Use the link below to get the v1.63b update, which corrects the problem:

I´ve read in the forum of SCDEV:

it's not a "fix" for those who are bricked. It's a fixed firmware upgrade that will not brick any supercard (for those who have not upgraded yet).
What can we do to fix our bricked cards?

complain on the official forums... http://www.supercard.cn/ or direct for english language http://eng.supercard.cn/

explain how this was totaly not you're fault, the least romman should do is re-place the bricked SC's as the mistake was theirs.

Though apparently it can be repaired via a wfi card, look for 'bltbit' posts on Scdev.com, he is offering a free repair. (god bless him)

Did darkfader not write an app to recover the supercard. He was working on one after he decided to write the virus that bricked the supercard to restore the firmware.

btw I did have the MX chip.

Yes, he did write an app to recover firmware. The link to file was already posted in this thread

But to use this app you need to get wifime working. Theres a tutorial on how to set up wifime here

http://www.aaronrogers.com/nintendods/wifime.php

You need a PCI or PCMCIA wireless network card with the RT2500 or RT2560 chipset to install the modified drivers.

Currently this is the only way to recover a bricked minisd with the CB chipset.

Keep in mind that WifiMe only works with certain FW ds's, and sending homebrew code only works with FlashMe.
