Brakken is a human like me and you with personal feelings and mind. Its not about Brakken, its about his work, his Tehskeen that I will miss.

meh, i wished this had happened 6 months ago when Brakken still had his credibility intact and didnt become a complete douche.
I used to love tehskeen, it was my portal for information as the wii scene was only just starting out (that and i used wiinewz haha) and Brakken's morals were great. Unfortunately, he himself developed a 'god complex' just as Marcan did. This lead to the decline of Tehskeen's quality and Brakken's credibility. I can name a few things that happened that really destroyed the opinion i had of Tehskeen (and by extension, Brakken).

- Numerous 'editorials' that were directly made to inflame a situation i.e Marcan, attacking GBAtemp
- Suicide attempt. Seriously.
- Brakken loving his ass kissed by his members (haha even recently he had a contest for his members to kiss his ass, and the person who he felt kissed the most got a prize).
- The hypocrisy, namely, the appointment of djdynamite as a mod. I mean, Brakken had such a vendetta agaisnt GBAtemp, and then to 'recruit' a member who was BANNED on GBAtemp for his excess 'content' makes me laugh every time.
- His constant over-emphasis for what he did for 'the scene'. This really frustrated me. Sure, some people did not appreciate the work he did. But lets be honest, it was anywhere near as difficult as he proclaimed it to be.

Some more are just on the tip of my tongue, but i cant quite remember them right now. Now, i am not sad to see Tehskeen go, in fact, i left it recently due to his blatant racism in a news post that was completely unrelated to homebrew.

Tehskeen was past its prime and was slowly becoming worse. Hopefully someone with the same ethics as Brakken will start up a similar website and continue to post accurate and news that follows the standard code of ethics (e.g. sourcing). Hell, i wouldnt even mind doing it myself.

seconded. I honestly can't count the number of brakken's quotes relating 911 or irak bullshit.

Thats too bad, tehskeen posted a lot of good homebrew news.

Maybe we can be official wii64 support forum now? lol...

Apart from 'The Brakkenator' thinking he WAS the scene, I found that there were quite a few a-holes on that site. I much prefer GBATemp, at least the a-holes on here can see the funny side of things and actually have some banter instead of just spitting their dummy every time you have a pop

how the hell can somebody update a server of a website as big as tehskeen was, without having a backup server running parallel. never thought that brakken could make such a dumb mistake. can somebody say where djdynamite can be reached. i would like to know what he thinks about all this.
Djd is often on wadder.net

Well I was on the site forever, and imho the GC things as Daco has said will be the biggest loss.

The sega emus from there have better altered versions on wiihacks etc, but teh pioneered the GC scene in many ways and got the Wii64 team together iirc.

Long before softmodding arrived for the Wii many of us got chips on the day of release and later that night were running N64 games on multi GC discs, snes, nes, neo geo and even gba. It took a long time for that to happen happen in "wii mode" by which time most of us had already been there and done that with trying every different N64 game

Brakken was a drama queen, but I ain't god so I'm not gonna judge why he chose to show that ( you think he wasn't aware how he came across? )

Anyway RIP tehskeen (until you're back)

I have a Wii but I'm not part of the Wii scene, so I rarely visited TehSkeen, so I wouldn't mind an elaboration about Brakken being an apparent "drama queen", although I've read several posts in this thread so I have a general idea...

You guys over dramaticize what Brakken was about when he did those things, but whatever, I'm not here to convince you.

The site was hacked, the backup didn't work, money was an issue, nothing could be done.

Really sad to see it go, it was one of the first sites I loaded up when hopping online to get scene news, it's strange. I type it in without thought even now and forget I'm getting a farewell page.

My biggest worry is that there are quite a few people who released homebrew on the site... For instance, SDBOOT for loading Gamecube homebrew off an SD Gecko (I downloaded the newest version a few hours before the site went down), and Genesis Plus GX, the GC/Wii Genesis emulator...Where will the authors of those homebrew go?
Yeah that's the first thing I thought of too. SD Boot is one of those pieces of software that I was waiting for to be released. You wouldn't mind posting the version you have somewhere would you?

I'm sure people like Emu-Kidid will find a new home, he's active with Wii64 too right? I don't see that project going under because TehSkeen is gone, it is a multi developer team. I may be mistaken but I think Emu-Kidid is the only developer on SD Boot.

WiiBrew, GBAtemp, and TehSkeen are really the only sites I use for Wii hacking (and of course the Complete Softmod Guide.)

It's a shame to see TehSkeen go, it was truly a great site.

Ha hacking website simply needs a couple things- Up-to-date guides, links to downloads, and up-to-date hacking news, as well as a very dependable, active, and helpful community. TehSkeen had most of these things. News was always booming on TehSkeen and had links to interesting apps not seen in other communities.

GBAtemp on the other hand has the best forum community on the internet, but the site itself is quite lacking, despite the valuable amount of hacking downloads. The stickies have the guides, but finding all the resources is sometimes quite difficult and time consuming.

A site needs to be created that combines all aspects of the Wii hacking community, like all of the aforementioned sites combined.

Oh no! I loved TEHSKEEN!
Is Brakken on here? I doubt so since TEHSKEEN and GBATEMP
used to war a bunch... Anyone here in contact with him and able
to get any information as to what happened? For the last few days
the site was down - it looks like there was a crash or something,
he refers to "loosing" the site. I had just started a big project
through TEHSKEEN also argh...

Here's hoping he comes back.

- MENTALDOMINANCE -

P.S. - Blazingwolf - I recognise you from TEHSKEEN. Tell Brakken
he can send me an image if he wants it forensicly recovered.
You said "the backup didn't work" - Well tell him not to erase anything!
Shit can often be repaired.

TO ALL: Is it possible to start a fund to help Brakken with his money issues?
If money can save this thing, I'm in. Someone ask BRAKKEN please.
I will gladly donate to a SAVE TEHSKEEN fund and I'm sure others will as well.

BY THE WAY - I'm sure the site being dead has nothing to do with "Nintendo Police"
There wasn't a God damned thing that was illegal on that site.

There never was a war and anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

I never bothered with the site, but any loss that means less places for people to meet and chat about these things is a great loss to the community as a whole. I hope they get this sorted, and the sites members find here and the other sites a happy home away from home until it is.

Does anybody have any good scene sites with news similar to that of Tehskeen? It's weird, how I feel kind of lost, not knowing where to get my news fix.

Okay, sure. I'll do it in a little bit, I need to check some stuff to see if I'm allowed to redistribute it. If not, I'll just PM a link to you, I guess.

was it really necessary to rez this thread?
Rez? There's all of two days between the first and last post of the thread!

I didn't really ever go to tehskeen much, just a few times when a post there would come up in a google search, but when that happened it was helpful, and it sucks it's gone.
