Coming from a web background, they are either incredibly incompetent or this is a seizure. Yea.. Something like this would never happen under regular circumstances. Outside of legal issues I don't really see any other way for this to happen.
Ignoring everything else, announcing server maintenance days after the domains / servers have been "having issues", is not normal especially for e-commerce sites. All of that communication would be made either 24-48hrs in advance, be finalized in a staging environment and pushed / tested to production and there would be at most 30 minutes of downtime. Assuming unforeseen issues, a rollback would take maybe an additional 30 minutes.
Now assuming it was just regular server / domain issues, they would have communicated that to the community in mere minutes. Not have GaryOpa, who totally isn't affiliated in any way, give a sterile and honestly flaccid response when pressured days after. If this site wasn't e-commerce and core to their bottom-line I could maybe see this slide as just incompetence, or not a priority as it's just a hobby project... but that's obviously not the case. Not to mention it's not exactly rocket science to keep a website up unless they are literally hosting it in GaryOpa's basement. Sites like these are likely managed hosting with no real need of intervention on their part. So issues like this should never arise, unless there was a host-wide issue.
It's also suspicious that they are deleting comments making any mention of the issue on their Facebook page. Nothing inherently wrong with it, but it's telling.
