They straight up posted on their forums that due to China shutting down they could not get parts. Are people too stupid to try and find information on their own nowadays?

Some people don't realize that Chinese Lunar New year is bigger than Christmas and NOBODY works. They basically just re opened china this week.

Literally the worst time of the year to have a failed prototype. All they can do is sit on thier hands. :(

Its at minimum a 2 month delay. Best case scenario. (They won't have a finalized proto for another month, and final product another month on top) this is an optimistic prediction. More likely 4-6 month before we see consumer product in homes.

Definitely. I used to do QA and our manufacturing plant was in Shanghai. Once Chinese New Year hit, good luck getting anything done.

Why would they release a product that is obsolete a day after release?

Hardware exploits are only patched with a hardware revision, so if an easy-to-install mod chip came out that can stealth itself to the system's security, and a soft-mod releases, I'm gonna go with the mod chip.

That's still not racism. The definition of racism has gotten mutilated into nonsense. True racism is Jim crow, apartheid, slavey etc.

Generalized comments are just ignorant at best
Still a very narrow target. Considering it's not just white people that have that ignorance.

Yeah, racism can go both ways. Off hand the brilliant policy of Zimbwabe's Mugabe to (often lethally) kick white African farmers off their land and give it to blacks, who had no farming experience and stripped the irrigation systems to sell off the metals used.

Back on topic, Maybe they weren't expecting any setbacks and so would've been shipping on time. There's nothing you can do during the Chinese holiday and they could've communicated that better though.

If it's a bootrom flaw it is indeed futureproof as Nintendo can't do a damn thing to fix it as they can't modify the bootrom or the hardware once it's left the factory. How the bug is triggered is a matter of semantics here as regardless it can't be fixed in any already existing device. The software solution while it may be free and offer a similar solution unlike hardware would not be unstoppable independent of the firmware. It's not a bold statement at all if there is nothing that can be done which given the claims made the only way the hack can be "future proof" would be if they found such a bug.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------
The bootrom is updatable, however they already used all available space for bootrom updates. Still it's not impossible that with some refactoring and cleaning up they could make the update smaller so it would fit.
seems to me team excuter are stalling or have nothing to show.

its been nearly 2 months since their announcment with no updates, progress or PCB screenshots (which is what we used to see in the old days)

Seems to me they thought they could buy the hack or get it leaked then make a PCB out of it, this hasnt happened.

Their forum thread for it is now dead....and you cant seem to register as a new member on their forums.

lies?
They obviously already have a working exploit.
It does seem like they might be stalling, knowing that once they release their exploit then software based methods will follow and they might end up not selling a lot of chips.

I think this is the best situation for end-users, we all suspect there is means for piracy right now. So, when some team release a pay method for "backups", we will have a softmod in order to cut out the revenue from them.

In order to make some bucks, a paying version needs to work on the latest firmware and be foolproof.

As someone pointed out before, we are in a waiting game now, but the longer the paying method wait for release the less money they will make, as developers get better knowledge for the system.

I think they are waiting to see if cfw will fuck them up or not.

Theyr'e advertising modchips to work on any firmware version, I don't understand how that would be the case. If they really are on the track of doing what they say then can, then until the final firmware revision is exploitable, a modchip should always be superior.
