Hacking system update

is it safe to system update the ndsi xl after installing the akaio 1.8.8...I'm afraid it might get bricked.

also what file extension do I have to look for if I want to watch movies on the dsi xl? I already have the moonshell.

akaio is the software and has nothing to do with the acekard working on the 1.4.3 dsi update.

with the acekard you can only watch vids using homebrew applications. tunavids and moonshell are your only real choices. dpg will play much smoother at a higher framerate, so stick with moonshell.
