thank you much for your help! i have bricked my switch b4 and a friend fixed it so i try to ask as many questions i can b4 i go about updating firmware.
i assume firmware files are still safe off of darthsternie? should i just up to the most recent firmware supported by atmosphere and such or just go the minimum that the game needs?
There is no need to go to the latest firmware version. Nothing requires it except online play. Even newly released games such as the leaked Neo The World Ends With You runs fine on my console with firmware 10.2

10.2 what you recommend I jump to or should I got to 11.0?

updating atmosphere and all broke my boot. telling me i have exfat issue either flash exfat software to storage 2 or format my sd to fat32. does moving my sd to fat32 break anything if i just format and drop everything back into the sd?

last question i think, daybreak all i need is the firmware and its as simple as it looks?
Yes, just use Daybreak to update your system version.

If you are using exFAT on your SD card (not recommended), you have to flash exFAT support when you're updating with Daybreak. There are two ways to fix this.
  1. Backup the contents of your SD card, reformat the data partition of your SD card as FAT32, and restore the contents of your SD card.
  2. Use a different SD card that's on FAT32 and use it to launch Daybreak and reinstall the system version (with exFAT support this time).

Sweet that's what. that's the plan. copied everything off my sd last night and will reformat it to fat32 and copy the stuff back over today.

which files are exactly stored in the /emummc folder on the root of your sd card?

i have recovered most (99% apparently) of my sd card files today, since i had some weird kind of corruption which turned my fat32 card into the RAW format. i already restored hekate and atmosphere by downloading the latest releases etc but idk if my emummc is functional bc i have no idea which files are stored in the emummc folder. i just want to make sure i have all the files or if i have to create a new emummc before i copy all of it on a new sd card.

could someone please provide me screenshots of their whole emummc folder? thank you.

Many thanks Lacius will give this a go
Hi there,
I have just attempted this update method I deleted the atmosphere folder and replaced it with the latest I did the same with the hekate folder
I then put the sd card back in the switch and opened fusee-interface-tk on a MacBook and injected the hekate_ctcaer_5.5.8.bin payload I then downloaded the sig patches and tried to copy them to the sd card and it asked me whether I would like to merge? I clicked yes now when I turn on the switch it boots into retake and when I press launch it says; "no main boot entries found...
check that boot loader/hekate_ipl.ini has boot entries
or use more configs button for more boot entries."
Any help appreciated thanks in advance Marc

Like I said, 10.2 was just an example. There are certain advantages and disadvantages at being on certain firmware versions. 10.2 can probably run most games but theoretically not as many as 11.X. However 11.X has an update for the cartridge slot which renders cartridges unusable on firmware versions below 11.0. This is why I said the firmware you update to should reflect the minimum required firmware of the game you wish to run as that is the primary reason people update their firmware; to play games that require certain firmware versions.

The important ones seem to be the ER00 folder and the emummc.ini file which I believe Hekate creates when creating the emuMMC. I don't think these can be shared as every emuMMC is tied to the SD card so you might have to make new ones yourself.

any dumb things i need to worry about moving my old data to the fresh fat32 one?
You should not have any issues moving content from one SD card to another, even if it is formatted to FAT32.

help! i've a switch lite running an sxos chip on sx os 3.1.0 with a fw of 10.1.0. Tinfoil is no longer showing the game section. i'm assuming its a issue with the cfw. any links to migrating to atmosphere? is it possible? damn noob!

You can follow this guide for switching to Atmosphere but I don't advise using DZ to install .NSP files. Instead, I recommend using TinWoo Installer instead as it is what I personally use to install .NSP files.

Hi all!
Sorry to bother you because you will be dealing with a master n00b right here!

I'll try to make it short & clear:

Original configuration:
System 10.2.0 | AMS 0.15.0|S
hbmenu 3.3.0
hloader 2.3.4
Goldleaf 0.8.0
Hekate 5.3.4

Everything was running just fine.
Then my stupid ass upgraded the console as follows:

New Configuration:
System 11.0.0 | AMS M.19.5|S
Goldleaf 0.9
Hekate 5.5.8

The error I get is "Failed to apply nosigchk, failed to launch HOS"

I tried bypassing it by modifying the "hekate_ipl.ini" file, I skipped the error but Goldleaf is no longer available (and all softwares installed by Goldleaf cannot be launched).

My question is:
Did I really f*** up or can I still solve the problem?

Sorry for being a dumbass and thank you in advance for your kind assistance!

Can anybody please help I learnt all this stuff last December and decided to update to the latest firmware, I deleted atmosphere and put the latest version onto the sd card I downloaded hekate and put the latest boot loader onto the sd card I then updated the hekate ini.bin file as i couldn't boot into anything, I booted into emummc and the games that I previously played fine now give me one of two error messages:
'could not start the software please try again from the home menu or corrupt data has been detected please run a check for corrupt data.
Any help at all be greatly appreciated am happy to start all over again if needs be
thanks in advance Marc

Alright, solved the problem with the following steps:

1. Fresh copies of latest versions of Atmosphere, Hekate, Goldleaf.
2. Installed Sigpatches for Atmosphere 19.5
3. Injected fusee-primary payload instead of Hekate 5.5.8

Now it's running properly on firmware 11.

Hope this might help somebody else.

Take care!

When you update your firmware or CFW version, you also have to update your patches. You can find the latest patches in the pinned thread on this forum.

I have followed the tutorial installing the latest deepsea package and installed the latest sigpatches something is still not right as only some games will boot the majority won't including a new one . Again any help appreciated thanks Marc
