Ok, will get an unpatched switch this weekend.
I notice there are two guides around here, dont have the links as im at work (one has a black background and the other a red one), which should i use?
Any additional tips for the process of hacking the switch (which additional things to install that adds quality of life, hings like that).

I already hacked a Wii and a 3ds, so at least i know a little bit how to make procedures, im just a noob when it comes to switch hacking.

This is the guide I personally recommend using however if you want to setup emuMMC on top of CFW, then I advise following this tutorial

Used consoles are very good for Switch hacking as the current exploit only works on first generation units. As long as the reviews are good, you should not have anything to worry about. And checking if its banned is as simple as loading the eShop.

There are multiple advantages to CFW including but not limited to homebrew, emulation, game mods, overclocking, and piracy. Nintendo 64 and Playstation 1 are playable via Retroarch while Gamecube emulation is not in a playable state.

As long as you find a generation 1 console, the exploit for it cannot be patched out via a firmware update. A preliminary test can be done by checking the serial number and comparing it to the ones in this thread. If the number is in an orange zone, then the definitive test is by trying to send a payload.
I don’t risk getting banned by launching the eshop?
You also mentioned playing online. Can you do it with legit games or does it still risk a ban just because you have CFW?

Ok so I tried doing everything according to the tips but after updating EmuNAND to 8.1.0 I couldn't boot into it. So I deleted the EmuNAND in the SX Boot Menu, but then started getting error messages when I tried doing it all over again. This was using the "hidden partition" option. So then I decided to create EmuNAND by using the "files on MicroSD card" option. But when trying to boot into EmuNAND I get the same error, basically a black screen.

Any idea what I did wrong? When checking the microSD card the hidden partition is still there. So I am guessing this messed up the second attempt somehow?

What should I do now? I don't want to screw this up again. Should I just start by wiping the SD card clean? How do I restore it to the full 200 GB?? And then, put the boot.dat payload on the clean SD card and try again?

You do risk getting banned by using the eShop but you cannot check if you are banned without risking a ban; its a fundamental principle. The act of checking if you are banned implies there is either a subjective or objective component that leads you to believe you are at risk for a ban. This includes simply using CFW even if you are playing legitimate games.

The guide says i have to use Hekate, but also has a option to not use and use fusee-primary without hekate.

Which one should i use?
While either or is fine, Hekate is a better bootloader than Fusee namely because of the extra utilities it offers.

Huh. There’s no diagnosis CFW can do to tell you that? That’s odd.

Checking if you are banned involves connecting to Nintendo's servers. And in order to receive a ban, you need to connect to Nintendo's servers at least once with a hacked console. Its a fundamental impossibility to check if you are banned without risking a ban.

I added a new account with Kefir but when I launch the Switch online to play games I get "Unable to display page" and a Retry button.
Anyway to get it working?

All of a sudden, I've not been able to play most installed NSPs as it gives me a "unable to start software." Error. I'm running the latest Kosmos atmosphere on an exFAT card. Did my card get corrupted? What can I do to fix it?

possibly, you know fat32 + usb install is recommended right

to fix, reformat the card, reinstall the cfw files and reinstall games

Replacing signature patches seemed to have fixed it. Is there a way for me to get my card from exFAT to FAT32 without having to reinstall my games? Can I just copy the files, reformat, and then copy back over?

You can give it a try
it should work as long as there is no single file over 4gb but if they are pre-installed it should be fine.

I have successfully installed Atmosphere Custom firmware with emunand for the first time on my switch using Coffeine. I am about to update my emunand from 4.1.0 to latest 8.1.0 with exfat support using ChoiDujourNX (I want to use a exfat usb to install NSPs). In ChoiDujourNX the option "Prevent fuse burning (enable AutoRCM)" is selected by default. Should I disable it? My Switch is old so it supports RCM, but it don't want to use it since I am using Coffeine instead. Is it safe to disable "Prevent fuse burning" on my Switch when I update?
