I am currently on ReiNX, but I am thinking about moving to Atmosphere and I have a few questions:

1. I have plenty of homebrew and NSPs installed on my switch, if I change my cfw then I will have to reinstall any homebrew or games? Will I lose my saves?
2. What are the benefits of having Atmosphere instead of ReiNX?
3. Is there a possibility of having 2 CFWs at once? What I mean by that is having the ability to change my CFW after reboot with ex. Hekate.
4. Can I use Kosmos to change a CFW?
Thanks for any answers in advance ;)
  1. Saves are stored to NAND, not the CFW or micro SD card. All of your games should work unless they are .XCI converts that had the acid patch applied to them which is a ReiNX exclusive patch. Unfortunately, there is no way of checking if the acid patch is applied to a game or not without trying to launch them in Atmosphere
  2. A CFW without an anime splash screen
  3. Yes. Just keep in mind that you can only boot one CFW at a time but you can keep as many CFW on your SD card as you want
  4. If by change, you mean use Kosmos to boot Atmosphere then yes
Okey, I'm done....
I cant do anything to run in console to run update.
I made backup, then using this https://github.com/rashevskyv/switch/releases/latest run rejnx (Want install update)
After some time logo appear and nothing...

What to do???
Fw 2.3+no microsd card update
I don't even know what that is so not sure if its something you should be running (e.g. could be outdated). But I believe your issue is because you are trying to boot CFW without exFAT support on an exFAT formatted SD card. Reformat your SD card to FAT32.

Quick question please guys,

I’ve just setup SX OS for the first time and after doing the emuNAND it wouldn’t let me enable it so I clicked on launch cfw. It then came up with the menu about the license to which I continued to the cfw menu. I then shut down the console and took the file and did the license on my pc, copied it back over and now it’s working. The problem is have I now dirtied my none emuNAND partition?? Do I need to restore and start again??

Thanks

Hey noob here again lol,

Do I have to use the jig everytime I want to use my switch if it's been fully powered down/run out of battery?
(I just want to be 100% sure before I start this process.)

If that's the case is there a way of bypassing that and just loading back into cfw to carry on playing games as I have a 7yr old that will want to play it but in handheld mode alot, so chances of it dying without them telling me is high.

Thanks in advance for any advice given

If you want to boot CFW, then yes. You can use sleep mode if you don't want to turn it off or enable AutoRCM since the purpose of the jig is to boot into RCM which AutoRCM will take care of (it AUTOmatically boots the console into RCM). With or without AutoRCM, you can only boot into CFW by sending a payload whether with its from your computer, an external dongle, or an internal modchip.

You use the jig to boot into RCM. If you have autoRCM enabled, there is no need for the jig, but you do need a method of loading a payload, ie, dongle (NS, SX Pro/Gear, etc), smartphone (Rekado), PC connection (Smash), and so on.

If you have a kid using that switch, I would not recommend cfw'ing it. There are too many things that can go wrong. Your kid could get you banned from any online services or break your switch in a variety of ways with the access cfw gives. It is just not a good idea.

Any CFW will do the job as they all support homebrew, piracy, and whatever else tickles your fancy. You will need something to enter RCM with, a jig or something conductive, and a way to send payloads, either a computer/Android/iOS device + a USB-C cable or a dongle. The guides I will link you below will explain it in the further detail. There are 3 main CFW to choose from: SX OS, ReiNX, and Atmosphere. SX OS is the only paid CFW but has certain exclusive features such as EmuNAND (which is a planned feature for Atmosphere), HDD support, and .XCI mounting. Atmosphere will eventually support EmuNAND but is not the easiest CFW to setup and update. ReiNX on the other hand is not only free like Atmosphere but much easier to put on your SD card and update than Atmosphere with plans to implement SX OS' features into the CFW in the future. There is no "best CFW" as each one has its own quirks but feel free to try them all and see which one you favor the most.

ReiNX: https://reinx.guide/
SX OS: https://sx.xecuter.com/
Atmosphere: https://guide.sdsetup.com/

Autorcm would solve jig problem, but you still need to send payload.bin.
So buy rcmloader or other accessory for it.
Or after sending do not disable console, use sleep mode and no jig+rcm would worry you. (Just charge it, before it go power off)

My nephew's switch is on 7.0.1 with 0.8.5 atmosphere, everything runs flawless, except he's having a problem with it randomly rebooting to stock

Is their a fix for that?

I told him to try and turn off sleep mode IDK if that's a fix tho

Ok, so I got atmosphere up and running. Now trying to put my first nsp on there via goldleaf. When I go to usb installation via goldtree; it says waiting for usb connection. I did use zadig prior to this and installed libusk 3.7 file with screen on, still wont see switch. I used two different cables and its same cable i used to get atmosphere on the switch. What am i missing here? Is there a way to put nsps on switch without usb, straight to sd card maybe on pc?

I had the same issue. Reboot of the computer did the job.

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though

    I appreciate the insight!

@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

never had that i don't think

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
