So do any of the current firmware’s remove the need for a single, PC or smartphone to boot into cfw?
No, unless you get a mod chip or RCM Dongle.

With SX OS can I use any cheap dongle or does it have to be there SX gear or Pro? I’ve seen none SX ones for just a few pounds. I don’t really want to wait for a Pro to come through the post or pay the silly money for a gear plus OS.
You can get a RCM Dongle with a working RCM Jig and load what ever CFW you want to load via Hekate, you don't need to have an SX OS branded dongle to load up SX OS, it is just a dongle loading up a payload, what I use is the NS Atmosphere dongle for my non mod chip unit.
Do any other CFW work? Also, is your SD card formatted as exFAT?
You can also use your smartphone with Rekado, which allows you to choose from any payload on the phone. Just need an OTG adapter and a compatible USB-C cable and you're good to go.Thanks for the info! I have a rcm jig already and wanted to just buy the SW OS and use my laptop however I won’t be taking my laptop away on holiday etc. A cheap dongle would be ideal!
Your SD card may have become corrupted after the crash. Reformat to FAT32 and try launching CFW again.I haven't had any luck getting anything to boot. Also, yes, it is formatted as exFAT.

Maybe it is is bricked? Do you have a NAND backup?I tried that. I was able to back up everything and format. I tried both exFAT and FAT32. Still getting the black screen issue.

I know Atmosphere rewired the Reboot option in the Power Menu to reboot to the payload you have in the Atmosphere folder named reboot_payload.bin but not sure if SX supports that. What will work for SX is using the reboot_to_payload.NRO file from Atmosphere's GitHub which will work with any payload in the aforementioned location. In order for it to be triggered automatically, the console will have to crash at which point it will give you an option to either reboot with your payload or power off the console. How does Atmos (and it seems now SX) reboot to payload works? I know i need some files on my SD, but then what? I can just turn the power button and select reboot and it would boot into CFW? I think i read that it works with crashes, so if i get a crash while playing and the console forces me to reboot, it would l boot to CFW, no need to launch the payload again, is that right?
I have a problem! I am having issues getting my atmo/reinx payloads to run. I have AutoRCM and have updated from 3.0 to 5.1 and then 6.1 using choidujournx.
Ive also initialized the console at 6.1 once my installed games stopped working. my most recent issue is that now hbmenu wont boot from the album menu.
I used to have my prod.keys to install my XCI backups using N1dus but after installing my first NSP and switching to exFAT I started getting errors. Im not sure why but I want to guess that maybe my keys got corrupted?
I wouldn't be mad if I had to disable autoRCM boot stock let the fuses burn and possibly update to 7.x for a quick fix and get the keys but I'd like some feedback before doing anything else
thanks in advance!
I assume you either did or were not able to check the serial number of the console beforehand? Either way, chances are high that your console is patched but there is no harm in testing to see if it isn't.I bought a switch today and am waiting on it being delivered. It comes with Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! pre-installed. Since that game was released 16 November 2018, does this mean I will definitely receive a patched console?

I’m on IOS so doesn’t work without a jailbreak I believe.
