So i havent posted in this forum in ages but i decided to get off my ass and hack my switch despite being able to for what i imagine is months now. Laziness is a curse.
However before i do, i realize that i probably havent done as much research as i thought on the subject. I assumed the switch was hacked wide open fast, like current 3ds scene and took my time, but from what i understand were still basically in the early stages of switch hacking to be more widespread.
So my switch is an old model with out the rcm methods patched, so at the very least for hacking at all im in the clear. The real issue is my switch is above the 4.2 (4.2.3 i think?) firmware which means to my understanding, burned fuses prevents downgrade and thus total cfw implementation. To my knowledge anyways. As in i can hack the switch, install homebrew and the lot, but like old 3ds methods im forced to have to use the rcm method every time i want to use the features if i ever turn my switch off/ reboot. Is this the case? Last i recall theres also other exploits i can install it make this a non issue but i keep hearing conflicting information on /hbg/.
Additionally im confused about the various file types for switch games. What are they and the benefits/disadvantages? Are these comparable to the file types for 3ds games and how?
Finally, from whay i understand, even with hacking, in order to play a certain game or use certain software, its to my knowledge that the software still has to be up to date when applicable, thus when new updates drop a game is still unplayable until the proper updated exploits are released. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance for answering my essay of a post
